Trump Fake Elector Co-Defendant Is Allegedly Singing Like A Bird To Prosecutors
Former Donald Trump co-defendant Kenneth Chesebro's testimony is expected to be "damning" to Trump.
- 10 minutes
In that session, Cesaro admitting he
helped transport those related fraudulent
documents signed by Trump electors
to Capitol Hill to try to use them
in the January 6th coup plot.
That's big.
That's a Trump lawyer confessing
and detailing a link from those plots
[00:00:15]
on the ground, including some in Georgia
that may have seemed
admittedly small or random, and stretching
it all the way back to January 6th itself.
Kenneth Cheesbrough,
who's one of the co-defendants
in the Georgia election interference case
and, of course, took a plea deal and very
[00:00:32]
likely will provide some testimony that
could incriminate others in that case,
is now planning to meet with investigators
in two states, Arizona and Nevada.
And they're apparently looking
into the fake elector scheme
that was carried out in their own states.
[00:00:50]
And since cheesbrough.
Through his plea deal had agreed
to cooperate with investigators.
They have now asked him to cooperate
in Arizona and Nevada as well.
So in a new report by the Washington Post,
Cheesbrough was among 19 people, including
Trump, originally charged in Georgia
with crimes related to efforts to overturn
[00:01:09]
the results of the 2020 election.
A 98 page indictment secured by Atlanta
area prosecutors portrays Cheesbrough
as central not just to the convening
of alternate electors, but also to the
strategy for disrupting and delaying the
joint session of Congress on January 6th.
[00:01:29]
So, as I mentioned earlier,
he pleaded guilty.
He took a plea deal, and as a result,
he ended up pleading guilty
to one felony count of participating
in a conspiracy to file fake documents
prior to the plea deal.
He was actually facing many more charges
seven felony charges, including conspiracy
[00:01:48]
to commit forgery and conspiracy to file
false documents, as well as violation of
an anti racketeering act originally aimed
at dismantling organized crime groups.
Now, separately, Cheesbrough has said,
has also been approached by prosecutors in
[00:02:04]
Arizona and Nevada who are investigating
whether the Trump slates of electors who
gathered in those states broke any laws.
A grand jury is examining the Nevada case,
and Cheesbrough is expected
to testify in front of that panel.
He plans to travel to the state this week.
[00:02:22]
So I'm going to break down exactly
what's currently happening
in both Arizona and Nevada.
But before I do,
I think it's important to remind you all
that the fake elector scheme didn't play
out exactly the same way in every state.
Some of these fake electors were a little
smarter, and they insisted that there
[00:02:39]
would be a provision in the documents that
they signed indicating that their elector
status wouldn't really matter until
certain things are adjudicated in court.
So where are the details on that? Okay.
So basically, states like New Mexico,
for instance, the electors wouldn't sign
[00:02:58]
any documents until there was agreement
and documentation saying
that they wouldn't carry out any scheme
or be considered electors
until the ability to be considered
electors is adjudicated in the courts.
Yeah.
So first comment I have on this is
told you Cheesbrough I said,
[00:03:18]
was one of the most important members
in this criminal criminal indictment.
And if he flipped that,
it would be a giant difference maker.
Why did I say that?
Because he's the one that wrote
the fraudulent elector memo.
So he's the one that was
central to the plot, as you now see,
[00:03:37]
to do a coup in America.
And so I've been saying this from since
January 6th for three straight years now.
Now, the part that's very,
very frustrating is that these indictments
and these revelations
are not moving the numbers one inch.
[00:03:55]
So here's this is as big a crime as you
can imagine, a coup against America,
where they have a whole set of fake
electors to replace the actual electors
and that that won the election.
And yet it's not making any
difference politically at all.
[00:04:10]
In the last poll, Emerson poll,
Trump is up eight points now
when everybody's in the race.
Okay.
And remember the Democrat has
to win by five.
So if things continue as they are Trump is
definitely going to get back into office.
And he's just going to wipe away
all of these crimes.
[00:04:28]
And so all the federal charges
will be gone instantly.
Now this is Fulton County,
so he can't wipe this away.
Well, what difference does it make?
They're going to really arrest
the sitting president
and put him in a jail in Atlanta.
They're not going to do that.
Well, it appears that they're you know,
there's a grand jury situation
in one of the states
that we're talking about right now.
[00:04:43]
So it's very likely that charges
could be filed in that case.
That's the reason
why they're talking to Chesborough.
But the other thing I want to just note
is that apparently some of the testimony
that Chesborough has provided.
[00:04:59]
Two prosecutors could be damning to Trump,
although his lawyer is downplaying.
Cesaro's lawyer is downplaying the impact
that this is going to have on Trump.
I don't know for sure what the reality is,
so let me show you what I'm talking about
and then we'll break it down further.
[00:05:16]
According to the Washington Post account,
he says your client says he briefed Trump
not not just to take photos,
that he was a briefing.
Are you disagreeing with your client
or are you saying the post got that wrong?
I don't know who it is
that's telling the post these issues.
I know Mr. Cesaro
has never spoken to the media.
[00:05:33]
We have a specific request
within the actual sentence itself
that Mr. Cesaro not speak to the media,
so I'm not sure who the quote leaker is
or who gave that information.
Do you have reason to believe
that information is false?
I'm sure he talked to the president
when he was there.
[00:05:49]
I'm not here to say one way or the other,
because I don't know who's leaking it
as far as that goes.
Okay.
Sounds like a great defense,
but nonetheless,
what Ari Melber was talking about,
there was Cesaro speaking to prosecutors
and saying that he personally briefed
Donald Trump on the fake elector plot.
[00:06:05]
Yeah.
And so if that's true,
that's damning evidence.
But look, this is why the hypocrisy
of the establishment drives me crazy.
On a day that Henry Kissinger died, and we
talked about how he led to the deaths
of millions of people, never got charged,
no, never brought up on war crimes.
[00:06:23]
George Bush never brought up
on illegal warrantless wiretapping,
never brought up on torture,
never brought up on war crimes.
Rumsfeld could have easily been charged.
He wasn't charged.
Nobody ever gets charged.
And so then when they do charges
against Donald Trump, the American people
[00:06:39]
and especially Republicans go, oh, okay.
So it's selective prosecution.
And so the hypocrisy of the establishment
and them protecting the powerful that have
committed so many crimes is coming back
to haunt us because this is a giant crime.
[00:06:55]
He lost the election and then he tried
a coup attempt with fake electors.
But now when you present that evidence,
no Republican believes it.
And a lot of independents
don't believe it.
So now the central question, guys,
is when if there is testimony, if you
[00:07:11]
if it's televised and the American people
see with their own eyes people that worked
in the Trump administration saying, yes,
we were trying to overthrow democracy,
is that going to make a difference?
And right now,
I don't know the answer to that.
[00:07:26]
And I'm pretty skeptical
that it will make a difference.
And that's damning.
I've been thinking about this
more and more because I, I still value
our democratic process.
It's obviously not perfect.
Every single general election
is the same exact thing.
[00:07:45]
Both candidates suck. Who do we choose?
Lesser of two evils. It's exhausting.
So I get it. I get the frustration.
But I think that when you take a step back
and you look at the broader picture,
when Americans look at what their lives
are like, and as they see certain issues,
[00:08:03]
like economic inequalities get worse year
after year, election cycle after
election cycle, the hysterical nature
in which they see these cable news hosts
freaking out about the dismantling of our
democratic process is probably something
that they roll their eyes at because
they're like, well, this democratic
[00:08:19]
process hasn't really done much for me.
So I think that that might be part
of what's fueling some people's
continued support for Trump,
despite the overwhelming evidence showing
that he did, in fact, attempt to overturn
the results of our democratic process.
[00:08:35]
Yeah.
And lastly, for me is, look, as we've
talked about many times on this show,
there's different bubbles
and everybody lives in a different bubble,
and they don't know
that they're living in a bubble.
They all think this is reality
and everybody else is crazy, right?
So that's why the establishment
also lives in a bubble.
[00:08:50]
They don't see real people at all.
They don't.
They can't understand them.
They don't even realize
that they think differently.
That's why you'll see headline
after headline, new shocking revelation
about Donald Trump.
Brothers and sisters.
Nobody's shocked, right?
Like you guys.
Oh, this is a big revelation.
[00:09:07]
As if it's going to like,
make a big difference.
You guys don't see that poll
after poll after poll
shows that it doesn't make any difference.
It's not moving the numbers
one inch so far.
In fact, it moved a massively to Trump's
favor in the Republican primary.
And then it never moved after that.
[00:09:23]
But they every time they genuinely go on,
they're like, oh,
this is a big revelation.
Oh boy.
And then 90% of the time
it'll be like a tiny little thing
that we all already knew.
But so they don't get it.
They really think
this is going to be Trump's undoing
[00:09:39]
and they don't have to worry about Trump.
Yeah. Clown of clowns.
- You're totally.
- Right.
Yep. Right.
You're totally right.
Rather than giving Americans a reason
to maybe reconsider their support
because the other party
is offering up something better that
actually would improve people's lives.
[00:09:55]
I just feel like there's
this endless effort, you know?
Not by every member
of the Democratic Party.
I think it would be unfair to say that.
But by most members of the Democratic
Party kind of hang their hat on the notion
that if we just attack Trump enough, if we
investigate him enough, if we show what a
[00:10:11]
terrible person he is, enough, well, then
that will persuade people to support us.
But no, and I'm fatigued.
I'm exhausted by saying
the same thing over and over again.
But you've got to give people
a reason to support you.
