Hegseth Suffers MAJOR Humiliation After Republicans Turn On His Financial Scheme

Pete Hegseth gets rocked by humiliating blows as the public, and even some Republican figures, call out his embarrassing new ad begging Americans for even more military funding and turn against the Trump administration's spending plans. Yasmin Kahn and Brett Erlich break it down on The Damage Report. Leave a comment with your thoughts below!

A broken Pentagon bureaucracy was doing the same thing for decades. When our war fighters needed more weapons, aircraft and ships, the Department of Defense allowed contractors to double dip at your expense. They charge you, the taxpayer, to build their factories and [00:00:19] then charge you again for the final product. And despite paying companies to make weapons faster, schedule delays were constant and cost overruns. were the norm, all while their CEOs got rich. But today, President Trump's War Department is flipping this rigged system [00:00:40] on its head. That was a weird video. I hated it. But that was our defense secretary, Pete Hegseth. And he was making a very sad attempt, I think, to justify the Defense Department's outrageous budget. And it is indeed outrageous. The Trump administration wants to boost the [00:01:00] Pentagon's budget to $1.5 trillion for 2027. And that is a staggering 50 % increase from this year as the US continues to wage its war on Iran. on behalf of Israel, not on behalf [00:01:16] of the American people because none of us voted for this. So here's more from the video before we go on. We've pushed out the bureaucrats who've made these deals in the past and replaced them with the most talented negotiators in the private sector. A group of businessmen so [00:01:31] elite, they've been rightly dubbed Deal Team Six. It's simple. We're putting the American taxpayer first by offering you a better deal. We now move at the speed of business, not bureaucracy. Now when a defense company expands its production to sell more equipment to the [00:01:51] U.S. military, they pay the bill. They pay for new factories, assembly lines, manufacturing plants, not the tax pay. In exchange, we're giving these companies steady long-term orders for exactly what our warriors need. and defense companies are making things in higher volumes [00:02:10] much more quickly while keeping their prices flat. Should these companies fail to deliver, we will hold them accountable and bring in new companies who will. Speed, volume, and fiscal responsibility. It's common sense, and it's what the American taxpayer demands. [00:02:31] My god, I don't know if you heard that but I audibly gasped at the end of that. This is unbelievable and it's that the video was weird. The music was weird. The animations, the guy smoking a cigar and Trump who was not fat with his like his thumbs up. And then also like [00:02:49] they brought in the good guys which were like these finance bros with their puffy vests like that whole video is disgusting. So And yeah, yes, this is what the taxpayer has been begging for the Pentagon to, we all just want to give them trillions of dollars while we can't afford [00:03:06] basic necessities for ourselves, for our houses, for our cars, for our healthcare, whatever. So anyway, this is what he tweeted along with that video. He said, thanks to President Trump's $1.5 trillion defense budget, this war department has moved from bureaucracy to business. This [00:03:25] is a fiscally responsible investment in our arsenal of freedom, ensuring our military remains the most lethal fighting force in the world. We're not even winning the war right now. We're not even winning right now. We haven't done anything. We haven't accomplished [00:03:42] anything. We killed Ayatollah. They just replaced him with another Ayatollah. Nothing functionally has been gained from any of this except the oil companies are making a lot of money. And the fact that Pete Hegseth even said in that video that these other people are gonna, we [00:03:58] will pay for it. It will always be us. This is the Mexican wall. Mexico is gonna pay for the wall all over again. some hope again, some hope somewhere is that even some Republicans are not fully on board with this giant massive budget. So Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker. [00:04:17] The chairman of the Armed Services Committee said in a scathing statement over the weekend that President Trump successfully campaigned on a peace through strength agenda. But his advisors at the Office of Management and Budget were apparently not listening. And also Pete [00:04:33] Hegseth, he was rightfully so mocked on social media for that video. And just for asking for so much money to do God knows what with it. So here is something that former GOP representative Justin Amash had to say. He said hundreds of billions more in waste and fraud at taxpayers [00:04:53] expense. Remember when this administration pretended it was going to bring down the national debt? Yeah, they never had any intention of doing that. No Republican administration does that, right? They always inflate the national debt and then they complain about it. And [00:05:09] this is one from the former political strategist Republican Jeff Timmer. And this is what he had to say very, this is a great quote and I can't even say all of it on the air right now, but it was performative dip, or e wrapped in fictional jingoism delivered by an incompetent [00:05:28] drunk wearing the clothes of an adolescent boy. His clothes always does like seem to fit him strangely, like he looks like a guy who wears a suit. And the pant legs taper at the bottom and then he wears very shiny patent leather shoes with no socks. He's that guy, right? [00:05:45] That's the vibe I'm getting from him. Brett, what are your thoughts on all this? It's so much money. It's insane. So this is what they're doing. He put out a video saying that we're getting rid of waste. And we're saving you money. At the same time, he's asking for more [00:06:00] money. That just doesn't make sense. Also, this is war. You're using cartoons. He was asked about something very important by TMZ. I what does it mean? All these questions, it was [00:06:17] a really good question. And he said the word, quote, I made a video about this. This is the problem. This guy is just a show host. This guy would deliver that, this explainer about the future of war, the same way he would Buy Trumpy Bear today, one day only on trumpmerch.com. [00:06:41] That is it, they find a way to talk that they think communicates very well to people. we should, at this point, realize that they're just hucksters. And also, what he's pitching this transformation to to businessmen, what are businessmen doing? Businessmen aren't there [00:07:01] to do stuff for the cheapest and charge you the least. They're there to do stuff for the cheapest and charge you the most. Businessmen introduce a profit motive. I'm not defending the lifetime bureaucrats of this military industrial complex. I hate them too. But I also hate, [00:07:18] arguably more, people who pretend to be saving us from these problems when really they're just introducing a new kind of corruption. They're DroneUs, or what is it called? It's a company, it's called PowerUs. Sorry, it's a drone company. Trump is just very good at [00:07:37] these horrible financial tricks and arbitrage essentially. So his kids just got two major contracts with the federal government for military stuff. Yes, there are many pictures of these [00:07:53] guys on Safari having shot defenseless buffalo, but they're not good at this. This story is insane, by the way. The way that they got this is essentially a drone manufacturer merged [00:08:10] with a golf course. And through that financial maneuver, the Trump boys now are in charge of a drone company that, my God, can you believe it somehow? Their product is so much better than everyone else's that they got a big contract with the federal government to make drones. [00:08:29] This is what he's pitching us as a turn away from corruption. mean, like no one's going to buy it this guy and it's a great way to call out. He's a drunk dude who just got the job of a lifetime. They call it the Department of War. It's not serious. They're not serious [00:08:49] people. Unfortunately, they're getting serious people killed. Yeah, it's so childish, right? Just the fact that he tried to rename it the Department of War, right? And he calls himself the Secretary of War. It's so dumb. It's like a child playing with his GI Joe toys, and [00:09:06] he has no idea what he's doing. But if you're just playing with toys, then the consequences don't actually matter. So that's the way we have running our government right now and our military. And it's all completely by design. The incompetency is the point.
