Republicans Drop OUTRAGEOUS Vote As Insane Jan. 6 Rioter Payout Revealed
Republicans drop alarming announcement over voting down an amendment to prevent Donald Trump from paying out Jan. 6 rioters with taxpayer money, which the DOJ is now facing a lawsuit from police officers attacked by rioters. John Iadarola and Sharon Reed break it down on The Damage Report. Leave a comment with your thoughts below!

They're going to give your tax dollars to actual
goddamn cop killers. That is what they're doing.
They're not pretending that they're not going
to and they are blocking any attempt to stop
them from doing exactly that. See, a Democrat
wanted to make sure that when Donald Trump's
[00:00:15]
got his multi billion dollar white grievance,
reparation fund or whatever. Okay, that's insane.
But let's at least stop the cop killers from
getting it. no, that was actually voted down.
They lost out. because Republicans, this isn't
just Trump, this isn't just Todd Blanch, Republicans
[00:00:33]
in Congress want to make sure that people who
tried to crush the skulls of cops on January
6th get millions of your tax dollars. And here
is Representative Jim McGovern to explain the
amendment and what happened. I move the committee
at a new section to the rule providing immediate
[00:00:51]
consideration of HR 7711, the no rewards for
January 6 rioters act. So this bill would prohibit
the use of federal funds to compensate individuals
who were prosecuted for their involvement in
the attack on the United States Capitol on January
06, 2021. Additionally, my motion would self
[00:01:10]
execute an amendment that would require the
Attorney General of the United States disclose
any payments made by the so called anti weaponization
fund, which was created by the corrupt settlement
agreement between Donald Trump and his own administration.
This secret slush fund. should be an outrage
[00:01:27]
to every American, no matter your politics.
I would urge a yes vote on my motion and I
yield back. The question is on the amendment.
All those in favor signify by saying aye.
Those opposed say no. The noes have it, the
amendment's not agreed to. Yeah, the nose has
[00:01:45]
been not great too. We're just gonna give millions
of dollars. You're gonna, you, I'm talking
to you dear viewer, you're gonna work your entire
life. You're gonna slave away in a job you
hate your entire life. And they're gonna take
your tax dollars and it's gonna be more than
[00:02:05]
you'll make in your entire life combined. And
they're gonna hand it to people who came down
and tried to end democracy. Hundreds of them,
thousand of 1500 of them. People who've gone
on to commit other crimes, people who went on
to sexually assault children are going to be
[00:02:20]
handed a check more than you'll make in your
entire life of thankless toil. That is what
Donald Trump is making happen. That's what Todd
Blanchett signed off on. And that's what all
those Republicans just agreed to. Now, you can
debate which makes it worse that the Republicans
in Congress actually wanna do this or just
that the Republicans in Congress know that
[00:02:40]
if they blocked that amendment, they'd lose
their jobs in the next primary. But honestly,
I don't care. I think it's both really bad.
Now it's to say that this can't be stopped.
There is now a lawsuit. Some of the January
6 officers who these MAGA rioters tried to
murder, they are suing over this. But I don't
know, it's the Trump DOJ, it's the Trump Supreme
[00:03:01]
Court. So I don't have a lot of faith in it.
Sharon, what do you think? I don't either,
but I don't know why there's not more lawsuits.
I don't know why it has to be Harry Dunn and
others who faced the horrific. disgusting mob
that day. As you said, there's a way to stop
[00:03:17]
this. This part of my brain said, no, it's
not gonna work. This part of my brain said,
but why aren't we fighting more? It's just
gross. It's just absolutely insane that we
have a Congress sitting there not doing more.
I don't want any more interviews. I want
[00:03:37]
action. They should stay there all summer long.
And do whatever it is that they do to get
rid of this now, all of it. Don't parse it,
no piecemeal, all of it, including Donald
Trump. It's just sick. Yeah, and let's just
briefly mention JD Vance, again, fine with
[00:03:59]
all of this. 100 % this is going to be hung
around his head too. He was asked about this
and he said, Republicans can apply for it.
Democrats can apply for it. As you know, the
President of United States has partnered a number
of Democrats who he felt were actually subject
to this law fair. No, he's let some Democratic
fraudsters and billionaire con men out because
[00:04:18]
he has more class loyalty than he does ideological
loyalty. That is not a point in Trump's favor.
That is very much to his detriment. I mean,
if Hunter Biden wants to apply for this particular
fund, he is welcome to. The people that would
get the money are people. some of whom have
been prosecuted completely disproportionate
to any crime they've ever committed. mean,
[00:04:35]
all they tried to do was end democracy and murder
cops. And you guys are making such a federal
case about it, God. So just bear in mind, he's
fine with this. He's fine with billions of
your tax dollars going to child rapists and
cop killers. That's what JD Vance just signed
[00:04:52]
off on. And just as a little side note, I apologize
in advance. What does any of this slush fun
thing have to do with a guy leaking Donald
Trump's tax returns? Like in any way at all.
[00:05:09]
It's not actually a settlement. We're just using
that term, but let's pretend it was. What does
that have to do with the tax thing? How are
any of these people who are gonna get this
money connected in any way to Donald Trump's
tax returns being released? Which I'll remind
you, he swore for years he would voluntarily
release, but he was lying to you, he was never
[00:05:27]
gonna do that. Further issue. It's $1.776 billion.
Why? Why is it $1.776 billion? Why not $2
billion? Could it have been $10 billion? Could
it have been $100 billion? Could it be a trillion
[00:05:44]
dollars? This is not a rhetorical question.
We had no input in it. So could it have been
Congress had no input? The judiciary has no
input Trump's personal lawyers and Trump decided.
And right now, it's going to be supposedly
one time payments to cop killers and insurrectionists.
[00:06:01]
Did it have to be that? Could it be a monthly
stipend? Could it be UBI for fascists? Payments
to right wing media that feel that they've been
slighted? Could it be permanent support for
right wing militias? Could it be payment for
a ballroom or a statue or an arch, maybe a
[00:06:19]
new golf course for Donald Trump? The establishment
of Trump TV, the perfect propaganda he's always
wanted. Could it have gone to that instead of
to the insurrectionists? And if your answer
is no, why? Again, there's no process for this.
Not even the Republicans in Congress had anything
[00:06:37]
to do with any of this and none of this has
to do with the taxes. How is establishing an
arch or Trump TV in any way less connected to
the tax thing than giving money to the insurrectionists?
None of those insurrectionists had anything
to do with Donald Trump's taxes. It is utterly
[00:06:53]
and completely arbitrary. The nature of the
settlement, the amount of money, the people
who are party to it, it's totally arbitrary.
And just Donald Trump and his personal lawyer
had any input in it whatsoever. And so what
possible cause could you have to claim any
[00:07:10]
limits on what he could claim that he's able
to do if he gets away with this? And I'll
remind you, it's not one and done. I'll get
rid of my IRS thing and then I get this settlement.
He's suing the federal government in other cases
as well. Maybe they'll do a settlement for
[00:07:25]
those. Maybe he'll get his golf course. Maybe
he'll get his militias. And so further question,
can President AOC set up a fund to compensate
those who lost their jobs, who went to jail
for jokes about Charlie Kirk online? There's
some weaponization for you. It could be a First
[00:07:41]
Amendment defense fund, $10 billion from AOC.
And you know what? Right wing media has been
really tough. The Trump has been really tough
on progressive media. So we're going to subsidize
them going forward. The damage report is going
to get a monthly check in taxpayer dollars.
[00:07:58]
Now you say that's crazy and obviously AOC
is an ethical person, she would never do that.
But how is that in any actual qualitative way
crazier than anything that we're seeing right
now? Can President Gavin Newsom establish a
fund of $1 trillion? to transfer that money
[00:08:14]
to solar and wind companies that feel like Donald
Trump has waged a crusade against them. And
they have unfairly for ideological reasons
lost business share to the Chinese over the
past five years. How is that any crazier than
what is being done right now? And as a bigger
general issue, what is our government and what
is our constitution if the president can say,
[00:08:34]
Congress, you're done, your services will not
be needed? I don't need a law, I don't need
a regulation, you don't have the power of the
purse. I decide what money will be spent, how
much, to who, under what circumstances. If
this is allowed to continue, what is our government
[00:08:52]
at this point? And just as a note to the media
who had some interesting rhetorical questions
in the wake of the shooting at the White House
Correspondents Dinner. If you are wondering
why would a deranged person try to take out
Donald Trump, I will say first of all, they
[00:09:08]
should not be. But as just a rhetorical exercise,
a hypothesis. If Donald Trump is telling these
people, there is nothing inside of the system
that can constrain me. The Supreme Court has
said, I literally cannot break the law. And
it doesn't matter to the DOJ if I stole the
[00:09:24]
classified documents, or if I blackmailed the
government of Ukraine, or if I did the insurrection.
I'm never gonna pay any money for having raped
E. Jean Carroll. It doesn't matter if the Trump
organization did hundreds of millions of dollars
of fraud. I'm never going to pay a penny and
in fact, You can't even audit me and I get to
pay my buddies and I'm going to steal all of
[00:09:43]
this money and neener, neener, neener, there's
nothing in the system that can stop me. What
might a deranged person be led to believe after
all of that? Again, they shouldn't do anything.
But in a country of 300 million, somebody
is going to see this and think there's nothing
[00:10:01]
that can be done legally. There's nothing that
can be done in the system anymore, but something
has to be done. They shouldn't do anything,
Sharon, but somebody occasionally is going
to try to. What do you think? Yeah, I think
it's a cousin of martial law. Really, what
[00:10:17]
you're talking about. If he can do all this,
then there are no real laws, and maybe there's
not any real crimes. That's what it feels like.
You want to talk about the money in Congress?
I look at Hexeth, who brought his smarmy butt
and sat there last week or whenever. They're
[00:10:34]
all running together and won't release the money
to Ukraine. that Congress appropriated. He's
already not doing the things that he doesn't
want to do. And we will see a flurry more
of these bizarre settlements in the run up
to November because he's got to consolidate
[00:10:53]
power. He's going to give a few of these uh
child molesting, bonehead. mean, some of these
people that were locked up for January 6th then
went on to do horrific things on top of that.
They reoffended. He'll give a couple of them
the money. some of them the money cuz he's
[00:11:08]
got to energize this army of treasonous bastards.
That's really what he's doing here, but the
rest will be stolen. Because if we don't know
anything about the process and who gets it
and who decides and things get to be confidential
and only Donald Trump and something about Todd
Blanch and some counsel, then it's another
way for him and his friends to just steal it.
[00:11:28]
They're not even gonna give it to these poor
suckers that rightly were barely held accountable
for what they did. Yeah, no, oh 100%. I mean,
all that has been done since then has been
to send every possible signal that when I call
on you to take a gun and to stop me from
[00:11:48]
being hauled out of the White House, you need
to do it. Because if you do it and if we're
successful, you're not going to prison. In fact,
you might get paid for it. That is what Donald
Trump is doing. And I don't know if I've seen
any Republicans speak out against that. And
[00:12:05]
after Thomas Massey losing, they're even more
scared than they already were. Republican senators
lost a primary too. They're not gonna stand
up to that even as they see the Constitution
being shredded in real time.
