Republicans HIDE In Panic After Ghislaine Maxwell Pardon Favor Revealed
House Republicans are trying to hide their positions on favoring a pardon for Jeffrey Epstein partner Ghislaine Maxwell as James Comer reveals House Oversight Committee members are split on the potential pardon from Trump, with Democrats standing against it. John Iadarola and Yasmin Kahn break it down on The Damage Report. Leave a comment with your thoughts below!

Would you support a pardon or a commutation
for Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted sex trafficker?
Well, I mean, obviously that's a decision of
the president. He said he had not adequately
considered that. I won't get in front of him.
That's not my lane. If you're asking my opinion,
[00:00:17]
think 20 years was a pittance. I think she should
have a life sentence at least. Yeah, so you
think that she should be in jail? So you don't
think that she should be pardoned? Except that
you don't want to say that. It's not your lane.
What do you mean it's not your lane? You're
[00:00:33]
the goddamn speaker of the house. Speaking
is not just your job, it's the title. Also,
and I guess I could be wrong, but I look at
a photo of you and one would initially believe
you're a goddamn grown ass man. You're a grown
ass man and you can't tell me if you think
[00:00:51]
that one of the most notorious sex predators
in American history should be behind bars.
Not only that, I'm sure you've got a Bible
on your person right now. You damn sure got
a cross somewhere and none of that, your employment.
You're being a man, you're being a strong Christian
[00:01:10]
with deeply held religious values. None of
that combined gives you the cojones necessary
to say, obviously you cannot pardon this horrendous
sex predator who has never shown any remorse
whatsoever for all of the things that she did.
The horrible harms that she has put on so
[00:01:25]
many people. I don't want to get out in front
of him. It's not my lane. Then what lane do
you have? You have no lane. You have nothing,
you have no spine, you have no balls, you're
nothing, you're a tiny little Pinocchio boy.
That's all that you are. And the reason that
[00:01:41]
he's saying that isn't because he thinks it's
maybe reasonable for her to be released. I
don't believe that he is that unrepentantly
evil. I think he's quite evil. I don't think
he's that evil. It's not that. It's because
he thinks there is a chance Trump will do it.
If he knew that Trump would never do such an
absurd, insane thing as pardon Ghislaine Maxwell.
[00:02:02]
then he would be confident that it is his lane.
And he would say, no, of course we shouldn't
do that and the president would never do that.
But he wants to leave himself the wiggle room
so that when Trump does an insane and evil thing,
Mike Johnson doesn't look like he was in the
moral, like on the other side of the line. Which
by the way, talk to Jesus about that posturing.
[00:02:23]
I'm sure they're gonna love that if any of your
religious beliefs end up being true. And so
he has to say that because Trump might actually
pardon Ghislaine Maxwell, which again, Seems
insane, but Trump isn't even alone in thinking
that it might be a good idea. According to
James Comer, House Oversight committee members
are split on the idea. Some of them think it's
[00:02:42]
a good idea. He says my committee split on that.
uh He wouldn't want that to do it. He thinks
it would look bad. So he's actually more of
a leader there than Mike Johnson. He says honestly,
other than Epstein, the worst person in this
whole investigation is Maxwell, which is mostly
true. I think there's a case to be made for
Donald Trump, but yeah, she knows she does
[00:02:59]
look really bad. And so who's split on it?
Well, the Democrats say every single one of
them is against it. So some of the Republicans
are for it. And weirdly, they don't want to
identify themselves. They've come to this
momentous conclusion that we should just let
[00:03:15]
her free. We should release her to go sexually
assault more people, traffic more girls to
rich, grotesque perverts. And they for some
reason don't want to their name on that idea.
It makes some sense actually. And why would
they do this? Well, in exchange for information,
[00:03:33]
I suppose. She apparently did something super
suspicious. About one week after Melania Trump,
totally out of the blue, decided to bring up
Epstein. Remember that weird press conference
of hers, which wasn't a press conference because
she didn't answer any questions because she
didn't want to answer any questions? Yelena
Maxwell sent a USB drive to the Justice Department.
[00:03:52]
So uh the US Attorney for the Southern District
of New York, wrote a letter to a judge saying
that they had received the package, asked the
court to give the government until June 5th
to file a response to the USB drive. He didn't
outline the details of what was on it, but
[00:04:08]
noted that her arguments appear to be duplicative
and meritless. So I guess maybe there was
nothing serious on the USB drive. But what
would be on the USB drive that she thinks she
could send in that would get her her freedom,
that wouldn't get her her freedom until Melania
[00:04:28]
Trump did her little press conference and said,
no, we weren't set up by Epstein and Gile Maxwell.
I have no relationship with them. I don't know
anything about them. And all of a sudden, Gile
Maxwell thinks she has leverage. Interesting
that. Yaz, what do you think? I was making
[00:04:47]
sure I wasn't muted. No, I think this is all
very interesting. The fact that we have members
of our Congress who are even- Not so confident
that the president is not going to pardon someone
as notorious as Ghislaine Maxwell. That is
ridiculous, especially considering again, how
[00:05:04]
unpopular she is with the American people. How
does he think this is gonna go over with the
American people? And that does matter. Right
now his approval ratings, Donald Trump's approval
rating is in. the toilet. It's bad, right?
It's approaching George W Bush levels from
[00:05:21]
when he decided to invade Iraq. It's about as
low as it ever goes for a president at this
point. And that does matter because the members
of Congress who stick by him, they're at risk
of losing their seats, right? The midterms are
coming up and it already is not looking good
[00:05:36]
for the Republicans. For any of them to even
entertain the idea that not or that pardoning
Ghislaine Maxwell is good, would be a good thing
for anyone. That is not going to reflect well
on them in the midterms on the Republican Party
in general. And also Ghislaine Maxwell, is
[00:05:55]
somebody who even outside of the government,
right? Just as in her. capacity as the mistress
or whatever she was for Jeffrey Epstein. She
did some heinous things, right? It isn't just
that she enabled Jeffrey Epstein, but she absolutely
did. But she herself is a terrible person,
[00:06:13]
right? This is somebody who we celebrate when
she finally went to prison. But then even when
she was in this high security prison, then she
got moved to this much lower security prison
in Texas. It was like we were seeing Jeffrey
Epstein all over again whenever he was put
[00:06:29]
in jail and then he was allowed 12 hours release
every day to go work, whatever that even means,
to go continue doing his work. And I mean,
I guess we do know what that means now. So
it's really ridiculous that we're still repeating
these patterns that we haven't learned anything
[00:06:45]
the way that we should have been learning things
that the people who we've put in power are
enabling these things and continue to do so
even in the face. of mass public opposition.
They don't care about it, but they really should.
And Trump obviously is scared of his own stuff
[00:07:02]
coming out. He's obviously scared of things
coming out that will affect people who he is
close with, other billionaires, etc. But there's
no way this goes over well for them. Yeah,
I don't think it'll go over well. my lingering,
I don't know, 2015 era gut reaction is, well,
[00:07:24]
this would be it. You can't do that. You'll
lose everybody. And I think like, I don't know.
It's-. A lot has happened since 2015. It's a
different world now that we live in. Look at
just the pardons he's are. First of all, the
fact that he's obviously covering it up. Look
[00:07:41]
at the other pardons. He released all of the
insurrectionists. He released people who tried
to beat cops to death, who succeeded in killing
cops. He just released them. And as far as
I could tell, didn't suffer any consequences
from it. It's the most mountain in the world.
And then they've gone on to commit many other
crimes. They've literally raped children. He
[00:07:58]
made the rape of children possible by releasing
them into the world. And we covered it, but
I don't know how many people even cared. Yeah,
a lot of these stories don't make it into the
mainstream news anyway. So I mean, it is good
that we're telling you even this glane angle
of this story I haven't seen covered very much.
So I'm glad that we're talking about it here.
[00:08:17]
But how many people watch shows like this one
compared to people who watch MSNOW or CNN
or even Fox News. here, I like to believe
that here at this point in 2026, that all these
[00:08:32]
little things that have gone under the radar,
have been building up slowly. And then people
are finally going to hit a tipping point wherever,
whenever that is. For the Republicans on the
right, it was when Donald Trump decided to
post himself as Jesus. That was what did it
[00:08:47]
for a lot of them. You just never know what
the thing is going to be. And a lot of times
it's like, okay, I can't do this anymore. So
hopefully people are at that point now. Hopefully,
I mean, we're- they're getting there. Yeah,
well, you mentioned the polling, we're to cover
the polling later. Hopefully we get to that
point.
