Hegseth's Military Firings BACKFIRE As Wife Starts Joining Pentagon Meetings

Pete Hegseth's firings of more than two dozen top, experienced military officials blows up in his face as his growing isolation is proven when his wife and brother start joining in on military meetings in the midst of the Iran war. John Iadarola and Yasmin Kahn break it down on The Damage Report. Leave a comment with your thoughts below!

Pete Hegseth really seems to be cracking under the pressure of a job that he obviously never should have had. I knew that before day one, I think that he has come to that same conclusion. And it's leading him to make some very strange moves, particularly when it comes to the people around him. Now, obviously, he's been firing a lot of people. And in interviews with The [00:00:19] Guardian, insiders talked about that, about him firing all of these generals, 24 generals and senior commanders. With no performance related reason given, these are people with great careers, they're well thought of in the armed forces. But 60 % were black or female and Pete Hexeth [00:00:35] obviously is very uncomfortable. He feels very sensitive and triggered around those sorts of people, so he forces them all out. Which means that he has a very small, ever shrinking and strange inner circle in the military right now. How strange? Pentagon staff have been [00:00:52] surprised to see him accompanied to official meetings by his wife, Jennifer, a former Fox News producer who frequently sits at the back during such encounters. And I think that having a close relationship with your spouse and wanting to spend a lot of time together is a good thing, [00:01:09] but you're a big boy. You don't need your mom to come to practice with you anymore. Go to the Pentagon and talk to the generals. She's not in the military. She was a media person. I don't even know how legally she's allowed to be in the room. Are you not? And by the [00:01:27] way, if she is, how are they having all these meetings with nothing classified being discussed? We're literally in the middle of a war. Why is she in the room? And it honestly gets even stranger from there. His other close companions are said to be his brother Phil, who he has [00:01:42] appointed as a senior advisor, along with Tim Parlator, an attorney who had previously represented Hegseth. Trump, as well as one guy, Ricky Barea, a former Marine in Biden administration holdover. So good, there's one person who apparently deserves to be there. No, otherwise, it's the Fox Mornings [00:02:01] guy, his wife, who apparently and wisely doesn't trust him to be out of her sight for five minutes. Not that there are any women in the Pentagon anymore anyway for him to assault, allegedly. Then his brother, who's obviously qualified, I mean, he was born of the same woman. And [00:02:21] some lackey, loyal attorney or whatever, none of these people deserve to be involved in any of these decisions, let alone be making the decisions themselves. And so for those of us who've had an issue with Pete Hegseth, those of us who feel like he's a monster, that he [00:02:40] should be in jail if not penniless and on the streets for all that he's done, including unremorsefully, unapologetically murdering those Iranian schoolgirls and all that. You'll be happy to hear that he apparently constantly expresses fear and paranoia about Trump firing him. So that's [00:02:56] the good news. And he apparently is so worried about leaks that he can't have anyone who he doesn't feel has personal loyalty to him around him. Sort of a habit he's picked up from Donald Trump. Now look, we can laugh at this, Yaz, at the way that he's flailing, how [00:03:12] he's kind of like Cash Patel. He's worried about being fired every day. But I will remind everyone, The FBI is an important place where important work needs to be done. And the Pentagon, particularly in times of war, is an important place where important work needs to be done. And how could it possibly be being done with these people in charge? What do you think? I mean, no, that's [00:03:32] a great point. And it is interesting and depressing to see the same patterns playing out in the FBI, but also in the Pentagon. And again, I just want to reiterate an earlier point that Everything is incompetent by design. He put these people in these positions knowing that [00:03:48] they were unqualified for the role. So what did he think was going to happen? Maybe he wanted to sow chaos. Maybe he really did think that loyalty was more important than everything else and that all the expertise that has been doged out of our government is replaceable. [00:04:03] It's easy, their jobs are stupid and simple, anyone can figure it out. Maybe because Trump became the president after also being entirely unqualified for the position. And he's just been winging it this whole time thinking he's doing a great job. And he's like, if I could figure it out, anyone can figure out a lesser position. That's just musings on the subject. [00:04:24] But the reality for the American people is that we don't have a functioning government right now. We do not have people who are in positions who can make trusted decisions on behalf of the rest of us. Not when it- pertains to just what's happening here domestically, but also [00:04:40] not what's happening as it pertains to United States in the bigger global sphere. And another thing that is interesting about this story to me, John, is that uh Pete Hegseth making his inner circle so much smaller to the point that he is isolated now, essentially. It's kind [00:04:59] of a metaphor, right? It's very symbolic of right wing ideology overall in many ways. The world that they're going after, is all about exclusivity. Whereas on the left, we tend to be more inclusive. We want more people to have better access to things like healthcare [00:05:14] and education, etc, etc. But on the right, they always have to demonize someone. There always has to be an enemy that they're coming for. for a while it was immigrants, illegal immigrants, right? Then it just became all immigrants. Then it became all kind of black [00:05:30] and brown people. Then now it's like- in the at least here in Texas, they close the border. So now the Mexicans are not the problem. So now it's the Muslims are the problem. And so they always need an enemy. So every time they kind of like do away with one, they have to make their circle smaller and smaller until you kind of get to the point where it's like, [00:05:47] okay, we only like blonde people here. So what he's doing is he has gotten rid of so much of the diversity in the Pentagon to the point where all he has now is his wife. Which again, as he said, is very, very strange. And his brother, which is very strange as well. Who is Phil? [00:06:07] Who is Phil Hegseth? I don't know that guy. So it's very strange. It's very indicative of the world that they're after. And I can't believe that that world is actually a world that they would want to live in. Yeah. Yeah, it's very strange. I uh was just wondering, [00:06:23] we'll move on a second. Do you think his wife believes him? against the allegations that he followed that woman up after the bar at the Republican Conference and sexually assaulted her. You would assume, she must believe him. I don't think any of these people have actual [00:06:38] human relationships. I think it's all transactional. It's about power. It's about getting to go to the parties or whatever. You're telling me she thinks Pete, of all the people to be facing this sort of allegation. Pete Hegseth, the guy who gives the most sexual assaulty [00:06:55] vibes off of literally anyone in Trump administration. You couldn't possibly believe him. But anyway, they remain together. Also, I just want to say one more thing, because it really reflects poorly on him. Most of the day to day work of running the Pentagon apparently has fallen to Steve Feinberg, the Deputy Defense Secretary. Hegseth, meanwhile, has focused on issues [00:07:15] of personal interest to him, like shaking up the Pentagon's chaplain services. Isn't it nice that he has a project? He's not like really the secretary of defense or whatever, but they give him like a little job or whatever to have fun with. He likes the church stuff.
