REPORT: Trump Asked Marjorie Greene NOT To Run For Senate
A Trump team poll showed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene losing a race for Senate in Georgia by double-digits.
- 7 minutes
Marjorie Taylor Greene's hopes
for a Senate seat have been dashed,
all thanks to Donald Trump.
Sort of.
According to new reporting
from the Wall Street Journal,
internal polling done by Trump's team
found that Senator Jon Ossoff would win
by a landslide in a head to head race.
[00:00:17]
Before we get to the details, Jake,
do you think Marjorie Taylor Greene
will listen to Trump here?
Well, it sounds like she's going to,
but I don't know why she would.
Because you're going to see in this story
she thinks this is all like
conspiratorial against her.
So, Marjorie Taylor Greene,
why don't you beat the conspirators back?
[00:00:37]
I mean,
if you think you got what it takes.
What are you listening to them for?
Well, let's find out what they think
and what she says about them
and see what conclusions she reaches.
So this poll was conducted by Trump's
longtime pollster, Tony Fabrizio.
[00:00:54]
And the poll showed that Greene would lose
to Ossoff in a general election
by 18 points, according
to people familiar with the poll,
even as she could win a primary election.
It also showed that green was
a less competitive candidate
[00:01:10]
than Georgia Governor Brian Kemp
or Kelly Loeffler, administrator
of the Small Business Administration.
Kemp, who said earlier this month
he wouldn't pursue the seat,
was the strongest candidate, one
of the people familiar with the poll said.
So how did she take the news?
[00:01:27]
Asked for comment Thursday,
Greene said in a statement to the Wall
Street Journal to my knowledge,
a lot of this was private conversation
and apparently is being leaked.
She said the poll was done
by Tony Fabrizio, who has refused to work
for me because he says he has a conflict,
which means he'll be working
[00:01:44]
for someone against me.
Despite her complaints
about poor polling numbers, she said in an
ex post last week she won't run for Senate
but still insisted she could win.
When I met with the nrsC a few weeks ago,
they told me their
internal internal polling shows
any Republican can beat Ossoff.
[00:02:03]
But now they're pushing a public poll
of just 800 people
claiming only certain Republicans can win.
Funny how that works.
Polling has become so dishonest that most
people barely pay attention to it anymore.
Voters are sick of the consultants who
keep getting rich, whether we win or lose.
[00:02:21]
Yes. I'm competitive.
Yes, I love to win.
And yes, I know I would win
both the primary and the general.
I'd enjoy proving the elites wrong
every single day.
But that's not what motivates me.
Even with a few good Republicans
in the Senate.
[00:02:37]
Nothing changes.
So, no, Jon Ossoff isn't the real problem.
He's just a vote upon no different
than the uniparty Republicans
who skip key votes to attend fundraisers
and let our agenda fail.
Someone once said the Senate
is where good ideas go to die.
[00:02:54]
They were right.
That's why I'm not running so jank.
It seems like she's now taking
a principled position against the Senate
and that's why she's not running.
I don't get it.
She's like, the polling is wrong.
The consultants are wrong.
I can definitely win.
[00:03:10]
And that's why I'm not running.
I just don't understand that.
Look, if she says Tony Fabrizio
has a conflict, that means
that he's representing someone else.
That's true.
That that that is what it means, right?
If she says that, oh, he's, you know,
maybe advising Trump,
[00:03:29]
but he's got a conflict of interest.
Okay, then why don't you call that out?
Okay.
You did.
But apparently Trump wasn't convinced.
So she's not denying
that that conversation was Trump happened.
She's just saying
I hate that they leaked it.
Okay. That's fair.
You hate that they leaked it
and they did leak it.
[00:03:44]
And you're right to complain about that.
But nevertheless,
like nobody's telling you, you can't run.
I mean, other than Trump,
but I mean, if you listen to Daddy Trump,
that's not anybody on anyone but you like.
[00:03:59]
If you like, you can't say, look,
I'm a tough guy and I could beat anyone
and everybody's wrong and then say,
that's why I'm not running.
That makes no sense. All right.
I mean, this this just fits in the common
theme of, our programs today, which are
[00:04:16]
politicians that are in that deny reality.
I think that's that seems
to be the common theme.
And, I mean, in a way,
I'm I'll be thrilled if,
this sort of denial of reality continues
to mean massive Republican losses.
[00:04:33]
But, hey, here's a huge opportunity again,
for the Democrats to get with reality
and and actually propose
a sort of positive set of alternatives.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
So look, I recently talked to her on,
on the, on this program and,
[00:04:49]
and shocking developments.
She's against attacking Iran.
Maybe that's not that shocking given her
stance before, but you having anti-war
stances before an election is one thing.
But then when you get into office
and your side has power,
then to actually say, hey, President Trump
should not bomb Iran, and if he does,
[00:05:06]
then the base will turn against him.
That's a good, strong statement.
I like that statement.
She.
Then she also said that Israel
shouldn't get any more funding.
That's a really strong statement
and I agree with that.
So but we disagree
on almost everything else.
So do I believe the polling?
Yeah, I believe the polling.
[00:05:21]
So my job is to be honest
and tell you guys what's real and what's
real is that I think she'll lose.
And so I she might win the primary
and then
very likely lose the general election.
And if you're a Democrat, which I am,
that's what you want to happen.
[00:05:37]
So what's my real analysis of that race?
Loeffler is a joke.
She's a corporate Republican
uniparty establishment person
did insider trading, etc.
I think she's a terrible candidate.
She ran against Warnock
right in the last cycle, I remember.
Yeah, she's already she already lost.
Right.
[00:05:53]
So I don't know why
that's like a Democrat move.
And I don't mean it in like
Democratic voters who I love,
but Democratic leaders like, oh, let's run
the person who lost last time, right?
So, okay, so that Kemp would
have won easily in my opinion.
So I'm glad he's not running.
I don't know why he's not running.
[00:06:09]
Maybe he's going to run for president
and he doesn't want to risk anything.
Okay. That's his business.
But I'm glad he's not running because
that makes it easier for a Democrat to win
that race or Ossoff to win that race.
And so I think Marjorie Taylor Greene
would get rocked by Ossoff.
But Ossoff's got to run
the right kind of campaign.
[00:06:26]
Can't take it for granted, but it doesn't
matter because apparently she's not
running because Daddy Trump said not to.
And let's keep it real.
I mean, I'm not even the one
saying that she said it.
She said that she could definitely win,
but since daddy told her not to run,
she's not going to run.
[00:06:42]
- Yep.
- Yeah.
She is also just afraid of criticizing
or pushing back, like,
you see like the jumps in her statement.
It's hilarious.
And there was much more to it
that we couldn't pull.
It was a very lengthy statement
making this long, drawn out,
contorted case about how she could.
[00:06:58]
She would easily win.
She would win a primary,
should win the general.
It's not even a question, but.
And he's so this guy is so vulnerable.
He's a silver spoon.
He's never worked. He's radical.
And then I'm just I'm not going to run.
And you look at some of
the other candidates,
I think Buddy Carter seems to be who
they're going to probably rally around.
[00:07:17]
He's a representative,
in Georgia right now.
He's already entered the race.
That seems like it's who it could be
if not Kelly Loeffler.
But, yeah, if they nominate Loeffler,
go for it, I guess.
I mean, just hit her
on the insider trading stuff again.
People don't like that.
So if I hope they make that pick
because it's an easy win for Ossoff.
[00:07:36]
Yep.
I yeah, I just keep going back
to if you're going to talk big
you got to finish that talk.
Otherwise why'd you talk
in the first place.
Right. So there you go.
Every time you ring the bell
below an angel gets his wings.
[00:07:54]
Totally not true.
But it does keep you updated
on our live shows.
