Trump Goon PANICS Over Gas Price Claims As White House Lies Spiral Out Of Control
Donald Trump's Energy Secretary Chris Wright scrambles to backtrack his previous brag on gas prices as White House lies get even worse. John Iadarola and Jayar Jackson break it down on The Damage Report. Leave a comment with your thoughts below!

Are you confident that gas will be back under
$3 a gallon by the busy summer travel season,
Mr. Secretary? There's a very good chance that'll
be true. There's no guarantees in war, the
timeframe's still not entirely clear. But I
think that's certainly a goal of the administration
[00:00:16]
and very possible. Do you think it's still very
possible that gas prices will dip below $3
a gallon in time for summer, which is about
six weeks? I can't make any predictions about
oil prices or gasoline prices. Yeah, so ah there
was some confidence at one point now not so
[00:00:36]
sure how exactly do you spin all of this if
you're in the Trump administration? I mean,
things are bad. They've been bad. They're rapidly
getting worse. You need to convince voters
that they're not gonna keep getting worse,
especially as we get into the summer. We get
into the prime uh driving months. But the numbers
are making it a little bit harder to make that
[00:00:56]
case. And so they turn in the Trump administration
to Kevin Hassett, a guy who has proven himself
to not be up to the task of spitting this sort
of propaganda. But that said, he is going to
try take a look. In terms of the price of oil
and gas and this spike, this has to mean higher
[00:01:12]
costs for corporate America and for consumers.
Well, it does in the short run. you mentioned
Secretary Bessette, follows these numbers. You
know, he made a lot of money following these
numbers in the past and being able to trade.
And he says these futures markets are saying
that basically once we get the straight open,
then there's going to be a gusher of oil released
[00:01:31]
from the Gulf. And that's going to help put
prices down relatively quickly. Now there's
a little bit of a time lag from that. We've
got to get the boats to move from the Persian
Gulf to especially Asia where jet fuel prices
are so high and that can take a month or two.
But once basically the gusher opens, then
we expect that oil prices could drop relatively
[00:01:52]
quickly and certainly ahead of the election.
What are you doing to yourself just out of
frame that you cannot take that stupid ass eating
grin off of your face? That is a very strange
[00:02:10]
way, even if it was good news, it's economic
news. Why are you feeling such strong emotions?
Stop using the term gushers, please, for one
sentence and acknowledge that a lot of people
are not grinning in the way that you are. But
anyway, he's at least trying to deliver the
[00:02:27]
line that, yeah, no, as soon as the straights
open, gas is going to be totally cool. Forget
the fact that virtually every fuel, every oil
and natural gas producing uh complex in the
region has been damaged and will need to be
repaired over the course of years. Forget all
of that, it's all going to be good. Little problem
with that. uh Donald Trump isn't happy to just
[00:02:48]
imply that things will get better. He's just
actively lying about how they are right now.
Take a look. oh
You know what's happened today? Gas prices
are way down and the stock market is way up
today. So gas prices have come down. Gas will
fall down at levels that you've never seen
[00:03:08]
before. You'll be down to where you were maybe
even below. We had it down to, I was in Iowa
and we were at 85.
[00:03:24]
seen in a long time. So you had $2 a gallon.
We were down, I think $1.85, $1.90 in Iowa.
No, we were not. He's been like, we're back
to the lot $1.85, $1.85. If you're a MAGA person
[00:03:43]
and you can prove that you paid $1.85, I would
love for you to present that in the chat. That's
a lie, $2 was a lie. There was a period where
before he started the stupid war, gas prices
were down a little bit from the previous year.
There had been some improvement. It wasn't
[00:04:00]
better than anybody's seen in a long time or
whatever. But forget all that, all that is
nonsense. Because gas prices are not down now.
He is lying right to the face of every one
of his voters that right now every day gas prices
are going up. He is lying and saying that they're
[00:04:17]
in fact going down. We know that right now,
the average gas price today, 452, a buck
40 more than it was just a year ago. ah My God.
Now look, they're coming up with ever increasingly
[00:04:33]
desperate means to try to bring that down other
than just ending the stupid war. So for instance,
getting rid of the federal taxation, the surtax
that goes on to gasoline, that could help
a little bit, like 18 cents a gallon for gas,
24 cents for diesel, they could potentially
[00:04:50]
do that. But that's still only going to take
gas down to where it was about a month ago,
it's still significantly up. And every day,
the total amount extra that Americans have
paid for gas continues to go up, it's up a
lot. By the way, it is not up the same amount
[00:05:06]
everywhere. Now it's easy to take photos of
California where the average gas price is like
620 or something like that. And it is crazy
here, but not just in California. In Georgia,
gas prices are up an average of 116 per gallon.
That's the lowest state average increase. In
[00:05:21]
Ohio, it's up 206 a gallon. I don't even know
why Ohio is getting hit so hard. more than
two, he's talking about gas being a buck 85.
It's gone up more than a buck 85. in Ohio,
which by the way has elections coming up. Maybe
the voters there could think a little bit about
[00:05:39]
what Republican governance has done for them.
Jared, what do you think? I'm just trying to
figure out like, there's the acknowledgement
sometimes of where gas was and all this stuff
at whatever points in times and it just leaves
us in these conversations. Sadly, where Donald
Trump is dictating them where we're talking
about well, know what in early 2025 or in this
[00:06:00]
point it was this who cares? Who cares? Where
are we living right now? And why are we living
there right now? Who cares about what it was
previous to this or this point in the year
ago? Which by the way, all those are lies.
That's where the argument comes and then we
end up shooting down those bad points. But
where are we right now? And why are we there?
[00:06:18]
And what are you going to do about that? All
the simple things that need to be answered
that he won't talk about that Kevin Hassett
is grinning about all the time. And that also
Clay Travis at one point, him and Kevin Hassett
both celebrated the fact that oil companies.
more producers, more billionaires are making
more money off of it. At least they're Americans
[00:06:35]
that are gouging us for all of our money. They've
said it, they're openly, and Kevin Hassett
laughs about it. But why should we be having
these debates and arguments over what gas was?
The only thing you guys know, I was just in
Memphis last week, since I got there, you may
[00:06:50]
need some gas I drove there. And then you look
up and I was like, damn, we're at 410. I didn't
know it was worse as you go a little bit more
into the Midwest, not deep, deep south. Similarly,
I guess that's what's happening in Ohio too.
Who really knows why these things are happening
the way that they're happening? But we do know,
I mean, as far as the variations, but we do
[00:07:09]
know a big driver of it is the guy who keeps
talking about he's this great deal making that
is always happening. And now he's rejecting
more deals from the country that he invaded
and has absolutely zero plan of doing anything
different about. Then they'll acknowledge
a different point. Actually gas prices will
go higher. It's a constant circus. of us following
[00:07:28]
behind this clown and expecting an answer that
makes some kind of sense while we then shell
out a lot, a lot more money. And it's not just
gas prices, by the way. You would think that
at least like for the purposes of not losing
the midterms, they would try to wind this thing
[00:07:44]
down, get the gas prices down. Like just telling
people day after day after day that they're
not experiencing the struggle they are is a
terrible political strategy. But it's one they've
stuck with for the better part of a year now.
Really smart.
