Republicans GREEN LIGHT Cuba Invasion By Trump With Help From One Democrat
Republicans, led in opposition by MAGA Senator Rick Scott, get the help of one Democrat, John Fetterman, in vote to block measure meant to block escalation of Donald Trump's war on Cuba. John Iadarola and Sharon Reed break it down on The Damage Report. Leave a comment with your thoughts below!

The Senate has refused to do literally anything
to rein Donald Trump in on Iran, despite how
comprehensively moronic and damaging this stupid,
stupid war of his has been so far. But okay,
we're already in the war. I guess it's hard
to stop him when the bombs are already dropping.
[00:00:15]
But okay, maybe we can get out in front of the
next one, so we don't have another go round
on the stupid war cycle. So Cuba. He's been
talking about Cuba, maybe we could do something.
Maybe the Senate could exert its constitutional
authority over the question of war in a war
[00:00:31]
that we haven't actually started now. No, they're
choosing not to do that. That would be too
much for them because Republicans combined
with one Democrat, can you guess who? John
Fetterman have decided to block any effort
to rein Donald Trump in on Cuba ahead of time.
[00:00:51]
It was a 51-47 vote on a procedural motion to
block further debate. This is Tim Kaine's uh
SJ resolution 124, a quote, joint resolution
to direct the removal of US armed forces from
hostilities within or against the Republic of
Cuba that have not been authorized by Congress.
[00:01:07]
Which isn't even saying you can't do it, it's
just saying Congress has to authorize it.
And I don't even know why you need to say that
considering that's what the Constitution says.
It's just saying, hey, senators, Maybe we
should have power. Wouldn't that be cool if
[00:01:22]
we had power, if we did our responsibility?
And 51 senators are like, no, I don't wanna
do that. I don't wanna do my job. That's tough,
I might get criticized. I would rather just
uh lay down, let down Trump, walk all over me
and pretend that that's what the Constitution
[00:01:39]
says. And so, it's just, we had Susan Collins
and Rand Paul. two Republicans that voted on
the right side of this. So that's good, they
get their limited credit before they betray
us once again. And John Feteman voted with the
GOP, which is awesome, just awesome. And to
[00:01:57]
be clear, by the way, we are already at war
with Cuba. I'm being loosey goosey with the
language because a blockade of a country which
is an act of war in 2026 is one of the freebies
that you could just do and it doesn't count
for some reason. Even people like me slip up
and pretend that we're not at war, but we are
at war. right now. And if you're not sure
[00:02:17]
about why that would be an act of war, imagine
if Russia did it to us. Imagine if Russia
blockaded the LA port and didn't let any container
ships get through. Do you think we might be
mildly peeved about that? Yeah, I think that
we would be, but for some reason we get to
[00:02:32]
do it to other countries. And if you're counting,
by the way, Trump has attacked seven countries
since returning to uh office and 10 since the
start of his first term. More than any other
president, I don't even think that's a full
count. I'm pretty sure he bombed eight or nine
countries last year. But whatever, we'll say
seven. And this is the peace president. Sharon,
[00:02:51]
the Senate is such garbage. What do you think?
Yeah, they're garbage and Federman and his
sweatshirt make me so sick. He's the new Kirsten
Sinema and the other guy from West Virginia,
though I forget his name. Manchin. Yeah, Manchin.
Remember those two, what a pair. And now it's
Federman. He's belligerent, he's obstinate,
he's- not a Democrat, so let's just state
[00:03:12]
that for the record, okay? And he's not even
do the right thing then, just leave. Just go
to the other party or do whatever, people stood
by you and you are messed up, dude. This is
what we're doing. But it all goes to show this
uh privilege, hierarchy, superiority that we
[00:03:29]
display over the rest of the world when we have
no moral standing here. We don't have any real
standing, it's hypocritical, it's embarrassing.
I mean, I am not leaving this country. I have
a right to be here. I still believe there's
great things about this country. But at the
[00:03:44]
end of the day, if I have an extra $20 to escape
and go across the border for a few minutes,
I'm embarrassed to say I'm an American right
now. I'm actually embarrassed because people
would say to me, how come these clowns got in?
They were saying stuff like that when it was
[00:04:01]
George W. Bush and looking back. He's a decent
guy who gets candy from Michelle Obama and
we don't mind him so much after everything.
Remember how he felt about what he was doing?
Now this guy's here. It's crazy. I feel confident
that that same progression is not going to
[00:04:19]
happen with Donald Trump. I feel confident.
I hate him just as much in 20 years, but yeah,
no, it's utterly frustrating. The Senate is
supposed to be the greatest deliberative body
in world history. And there's not a leader there,
basically. Bernie's good. There's a couple
of people. Merkley's okay, whatever. And then
we got John Fetterman. By the way, I don't
[00:04:35]
have enough shells to do 86 Fetterman, but
it desperately needs to happen. Can we just
make that happen, please?
