Wanted to give people a couple of the quick updates on some of the stuff we talked about the close of last week. Apparently, allegedly, inside of the first 24 hours after the ceasefire ended and both sides are saying the other side violated it. Who the hell knows? 700 Palestinians had been killed, which if that was the total [00:00:17] death toll for the entire thing, it would be horrific. That was one day, and on top of that, so we found out that the IDF has been dropping leaflets with QR codes on it into the area to tell people which grid sections, because Gaza doesn't [00:00:35] exist as like an organic place with culture and locations and all that. It is now chopped up into grids. >> Speaker 1: My God. >> Speaker 1: That they need to flee and just, more south, however far you are, go more south, go more towards the coast and I'm sure those areas won't be bombed tomorrow or anything. [00:00:52] So that's going on. And there's also reporting on Netanyahu, this is again because they talked about this earlier in the conflict, but he is going to the leadership of both Democrats and Republicans in Congress. His plan is they're going to thin out the population in Gaza, and [00:01:09] just send people to some other country, not people or anything, just wherever, just go somewhere and don't be here anymore because you don't belong here. It's horror in every sense of the word. Existential, deep cosmic horror. [00:01:27] What we're seeing play out. >> Speaker 2: Absolutely, and at the same time, Haaretz just confirmed that that story about 40 beheaded babies, that came out early after October 7th, that was fabricated actually. And also the baby cut out of a pregnant woman, that was also fabricated. [00:01:43] That's Haaretz, that is an Israeli newspaper. They did a deep dive into that and they found no, that was made up and it was part of a propaganda machine that allows and paves the way for a mass slaughter of civilians in Gaza, that again, as you said, ongoing. 1600 people have been killed in total since the end of the ceasefire. [00:02:01] It's wild, but we can't lose faith. I please urge everybody to continue to call your representatives. Honestly, get them on board. It is all and the least we can do. >> Speaker 1: Yeah, 100%. By the way, I get why people might have believed that early on. I mean, that was a story inside of a lot of horror that was going on. [00:02:20] I get why people would believe that. I also get why you would tell that lie because it's a quick way to get people on board for something that will result in the deaths of thousands of actual kids. Not hypothetical, they actually died. And there's reporting coming out by the way, of I think it was premies that had [00:02:36] been left behind in some of the hospitals were bummed and just died. Actual infant and newborn deaths. I know that those don't matter as much as the hypothetical ones, the hypothetical ones serve their purpose in terms of propaganda, but actual children are dying right now and tomorrow and the next day. [00:02:54] And I didn't think that we were going to really dive into this a bunch. But yeah, it's. >> Speaker 2: I mean, it's good to kick off with it. Look, every day it's a new, fresh horror, but if we let it slip from our minds and our headlines, what are we doing here? What do you think about the US's role in this? They're very critical of Biden, I want to know what I can actually draw from that [00:03:26] because obviously every young Republican is just going to say that they're against what Biden does, even if they would do the exact same thing or even less. >> Or worse. >> Speaker 1: But we assume that young Democrats and leftists and liberals and all that are against it. And I hope that they're not just against it when you prod them like, by the way, [00:03:45] think about this. You weren't thinking about it, but think about it and what position you have. I hope that they just have that position. And I wonder I don't want to try to draw too many lessons from TDR or whatever, but I know we've talked about this behind the scenes. Like, how many videos have we done about this conflict? [00:04:03] Do you have any idea how little people seem to care about those videos at the very least? And I understand there's a lot of news coverage about, but like, the only way you can seem to get people to care about Gaza is like, I hope George Santos says something about it because that's the only way anyone is going to tune in. [00:04:19] So I try not to draw too much from that because it's just too depressing if I do that. But if you're watching this not live, we roped in the live audience that they have to listen this because they're already here. But if you clicked on it, do you understand how rare you are compared to, [00:04:34] that's really frustrating. >> Speaker 2: But look, sometimes people, arguably the dysfunction in Washington is a lot easier to swallow than the mass murder of civilians. So we get it, we know that climate change stories, albeit incredibly important, [00:04:52] also don't do it, but we're still going to cover them from time to time and also, like, it's YouTube, man. You're having a meal and you're trying to get through, and I think other platforms sometimes might be the venue. Although suddenly Instagram is my least happy place to be on the Internet. [00:05:12] >> Speaker 1: Partly blame your husband. I mean, he's bringing humor to it, but it's still dark stuff there. >> Speaker 1: No yeah. >> Speaker 1: But anyway, yes. So, look, like the Secretary of Stay is saying, we're pushing behind the scenes for more protections against civilians. [00:05:27] So I have to assume that of those 1600, all hamas is what I assume. Yeah, no, your larger point totally makes sense because it is even like if this is the stuff you pay attention to every day, you have to mentally and [00:05:45] emotionally have it a little bit at arm's length because it is too horrible to fully think about, and it's continuing right now.
