GOP Senators Mitch McConnell and Mitt Romney have both been dutifully defending their megarich donors recently, with McConnell describing Democrats' plan to tax billionaires as a "harebrained scheme" to penalize people who "invested wisely" and Romney suggesting that these taxes will compel multibillionaires to buy ranches and paintings rather than invest in the stock market.
