So when I first became a Catholic, I would
probably go to confession every other week
because I would fail to go to mass every other
week. I just remember that this process of
thinking, okay, if I don't go to church this
week, I'm gonna have to go and talk to some
[00:00:15]
stranger about everything that I did bad the
last two weeks. And that process worked in
me a much better discipline, a much better
prayerful life. And I'm batting probably like
95 % of Sundays now that I actually go to mass.
I think that we can say that President Trump,
[00:00:34]
though not a Catholic himself, has been an incredibly
good president for Catholics in the United
States of America. Minus a couple things like
smearing and besmirching the Pope over and
over and talking about the Pope. And the Vatican
and Catholicism is just some other political
[00:00:54]
interest group. He has never once spoken about
any of that, like he believes any of it is
even like a mile away from the divine. Let
alone that the Pope is some sort of like earthly
ambassador for the voice and message of God
or whatever. Donald Trump has never spoken
[00:01:10]
that way, because Donald Trump doesn't care
as much as JD Vance does to pretend to believe
any of this. In JD Vance's credit, he does
pretend. He pretends to care about going to
church or going to confession or whatever,
all that BS that he doesn't actually care about.
[00:01:28]
This guy cares about himself, his position,
and the position he'd like to replace it with.
That's all he cares about, and he will be whatever
he needs to be. He will change politically,
he'll change in terms of his rhetoric, he'll
change in who he supports and who he attacks.
He'll change his religion in pursuit of all
of that. So if you are a Catholic, you need
[00:01:47]
to understand that he is trying to play you,
and I would love for you to wake up for that.
And this is a great opportunity, I think, to
wake up. Because think about it, he is supposed
to believe in God and Pope as the God's representative
on the earth. Well, now you have Donald Trump
[00:02:03]
viciously, unrepentantly, repeatedly attacking
the Pope, lying about the Pope's position
when the Pope is just doing what he's supposed
to do by representing something like the morals
in the New Testament or something. And in response
to that, who does JD Vance side with? The Pope
[00:02:20]
or one of the most flawed, corrupt, cruel, vindictive,
selfish, vain men in American history. We'll
take a look. I think the president has the
prerogative to set American foreign policy.
He's got the prerogative to set American immigration
policy. He has to look out for the interests
[00:02:39]
of the United States of America. And that inevitably
means that when the Vatican comments on issues
of public policy, sometimes there's gonna be
agreement, of course, and sometimes there's
gonna be disagreement. I think that's a reasonable
thing, Brett. Again, I don't think that it's
particularly newsworthy. But I certainly think
that in some cases, it would be best for
[00:02:59]
the Vatican to stick to matters of morality,
to stick to matters of what's going on in
the Catholic Church. And let the President
of United States stick to dictating American
public policy. But when they're in conflict,
they're in conflict. I don't worry about it
too much, Brett. I think it's a natural thing.
I'm sure it'll happen in the future. And it's
[00:03:18]
not that big of a deal that it happened in the
past. There's a couple issues I have with that,
but I love that last bit. When the earthly representative
of the thing that I think is eternal and definitionally
true disagrees with the dude from The Apprentice,
I don't really worry about that. I don't get
[00:03:38]
worked up. What do you want out of me? Principles,
values, a spine? I'm just sitting here with
my thumb up my ass just waiting for my turn.
Me, JD Vance, you think I'm gonna stand up
for something? Why would you believe that at
this point? They disagree. mean, he's got
[00:03:57]
God on his side and he's cheated on every woman
he's ever been with and might have raped a
13 year old. I don't really see any difference
between those two things. I'm certainly not
gonna stick my neck out. I'm not gonna be a
leader. I'm not going to do that, that might
imperil my chances of being the leader of everything.
I'm not going to practice now. And then the
[00:04:18]
idea that the Pope should shut up and keep his
rhetoric constrained to matters of morality.
That's what he's doing. It's a freaking war,
you jackal, you rat. You've murdered hundreds
[00:04:41]
and hundreds of civilians. You killed an elementary
school full of children. And you, the guy
who would purport to be morally superior to
a godless heathen like me, believes that has
[00:04:56]
nothing to do with morality. that your official
policy is we're just going to assassinate the
leadership of this nation. Yeah, maybe we do
do diplomacy. Maybe we just freaking kill them.
Maybe we just murder them. Maybe we blow up
their desalination plants, their power plants.
[00:05:12]
Donald Trump threatened to kill 90 million
people last week. And the Pope spoke up and
Vance's response as a newly devout Catholic
is shut up, Popey. I don't want to hear about
it. glassing Tehran has nothing to do with morality.
If that is what you think after your experience
[00:05:36]
in whatever religious sex or whatever you've
been in so far, I don't think you were paying
much attention to those books. I may disagree
with a lot of their messages, but they do seem
to think that matters of literal life and death,
mass life and mass death has something to do
[00:05:51]
with morality. But for JD Vance, doesn't. And
if you're a Catholic, I mean, just shut the
hell up. Honestly then, why the hell are you
speaking up against Democratic presidents telling
them that they shouldn't be allowing people
to have abortions or whatever? That's public
policy, okay? You shut the hell up about public
policy and then go think about morality. Nothing
[00:06:13]
the president does has to do anything with morality,
so shut the hell up about it. Shut the hell
up about trans people. Shut the hell up about
them playing in sports. You go do your morality
thing or whatever. We've got public policy to
set, JD Vance. if that is the way it's supposed
to work. Except of course, that's not the way
that it's supposed to work. And it's not the
[00:06:29]
way that he believes that it works. It is the
massive spineless double standard that JD
Vance has for Donald Trump that he would never
give to anyone else except perhaps himself
in the future. And that's it. And if you're
a religious person, you believe that that guy
[00:06:44]
has anything in common with you, you are out
of your goddamn mind even more than Donald
Trump is. I don't believe in any of these religions
and I guarantee we agree fundamentally more
on vast ranges of questions of morality than
you ever will with JD Vance because morality
[00:07:00]
doesn't enter into it. It's whatever benefits
him in the immediate term, okay? That's it,
that's it.
