[00:00:17] doesn't look staged, it doesn't. They're all your favorites. That's what it is, they're good. Just do the stunt, don't call out the stunt. Because look, that door dash grandma there, who we're gonna talk about, is doing what she thinks she needs to do. Okay, you [00:00:33] wanna fly me out here and have me hand some cold filets, fish to the president? I'm game, I'll play ball. And Trump comes out and he has to do his little, this doesn't look staged, does it? No, but we know that it's staged. It's supposed to accomplish something for you, [00:00:48] and he can't let that happen. He's too stupid. He doesn't have the message discipline. And that was by far the least disruptive thing he did in terms of the photo op. And also, by the way, isn't his thing supposed to be that you guys are all your elites, your ivory tower. [00:01:03] Donald Trump gets the common man. He just connects with them on their level. No, doesn't. No, he doesn't. He literally never has for a single second. Anyway, this was a stunt, but it was a stunt not just about Grubhub or whatever. And isn't it weird that Grubhub is getting all this promotion by the White House? That's strange. But anyway, it was for the no tax [00:01:24] on tips thing. So uh under the big beautiful bill, was all this stuff that Donald Trump campaigned on. And a lot of it, they just pretended that he put in the bill and he didn't. There are people who believe some of these tax cuts that he campaigned on were actually passed [00:01:40] that were not, they were jettisoned. Now this one was kind of in the bill. Now they're still lying about it, but at least technically almost is real. So last year, they did a temporary federal income tax deduction for tips capped at $25,000 per year through 2028. In a February [00:01:59] report, the Libertarian Cato Institute estimated that the roughly 3 % of tax returns projected to claim the tips deduction in 2026 will receive an average tax cut of about $1,370. And as a share of after tax income, The tips deduction broadly benefits those in the middle of the [00:02:14] income distribution, which sort of makes sense. If you're only making a few tips, then not having to pay tax on them is not going to help you very much. So I'm going to give credit to Donald Trump for a promise. Did I say Grubhub? It's DoorDash, I apologize. I don't really know the difference. But anyway, they technically kind of did this. But look at the way that [00:02:34] they did it, okay? So the big tax cuts that they did for the wealthy, the cuts that they did in Medicaid, does that expire in 2028? Does it? Do you think that it didn't know? No, those ones are always permanent. The ones for the peasants last for the next two years, and it's [00:02:51] capped at $25,000. Now you do have to have a cap somewhere because a lot of people were worried that that was just a thing so that hedge fund managers could claim income as tips or whatever. We don't want that. But $25,000 is a pretty low cap. Only 3 % of tax returns are [00:03:07] going to claim anything on this. So let's constrain our jubilation about how much help this is going to provide to the American people. It might help up to 3 % and their average tax cut will be $1,370, which is not nothing. If you are only making $25,000, $30,000, then [00:03:27] you could certainly use that money. But that's nothing compared to what he's handing out to millionaires and billionaires. It's also by the way, nothing compared to the additional costs they're going to have from things like the tariff. variety of different tariffs, or the addition of gasoline costs. because like that, I'm to say DoorDash driver drives [00:03:46] a car. He's made every mile that she drives more expensive. Weird that they didn't focus on that at the stunt. And also there are costs to this by the way. There are concerns that that could potentially lead to making it more difficult for the unions to bargain for higher [00:04:02] wages and things like that. That's more complicated. I'm not going to get into all of that. I'm just saying let's give credit, but only to the point where credit is due. And when Donald Trump comes out and says that she's saved $11,000, no, she didn't. That's insane. There's basically [00:04:19] no way that she could have generated enough income that fits under the cap that then produced $11,000 in savings or whatever. So don't lie to us about it. You could be happy for her and she seems happy. And it's right to point out, by the way, that she is sort of a political [00:04:34] operative. She's like testified in Nevada, now they're flying her out here, but that's okay, the people on the right that are political operatives. She's a real person living a real life, and you're about to be reminded of that because again, Donald Trump has no message discipline. So at this event, which is supposed to be about the affordability crisis, take a look at what [00:04:52] Donald Trump wanted to talk about. They want to have men playing in women's sports. Do you think that men should play in women's sports? opinion on that. don't. I'll bet you do. No, oh I'm here about no tax on tips. What the hell is that? Again, why can he not talk about [00:05:14] a specific thing? And then like weirdly like, yeah, I bet you do. I bet you hate those weirdos just like I do. Look at her, she doesn't want to admit she hates the weirdos. Hits her in the back a couple of times. Again, no warmth, no charisma, no ability to communicate on [00:05:33] anything approaching the same level with a person like that. He sees her like- has to interact with and then he gets to go back to his $10,000 chocolate cake or whatever. That's what this entire thing is. I want to give a little bit of credit to, Ken Clippett said had a good [00:05:49] tweet about this, but I'm going to go to Engelberto who says, it's nice to be reminded that plenty of regular people still know how to remain composed and professional in high pressure situations. And that this freak show we have is not representative of the country, which is totally right. She is a person far better capable. of knowing what she's there to do, staying on message, [00:06:10] no weird tangents, her brain is still her own. And she's just the she's a door dash driver. She's a serious person. has like her husband has cancer. They desperately need help. That's why she's talking about isn't it good that I'm getting some tax relief or whatever. And like [00:06:27] I think they could do a million times more to help her out as many people are pointing out. Wouldn't it be nice if she actually received some benefits from the company she's employed by? I mean, not employed by, they're independent contractors, just because they bought our politicians, they're employees for them. That's what they are, they don't get the benefit of it, but [00:06:45] they do all the costs of it. Donald Trump could say, you know what, actually, I'm sick of that. I think they're screwing you over. I'm to stop them from logging all of you as independent contractors. I'm going to figure out a way to pass a piece of legislation. I'm going to force it through. And if Mike Johnson has some sort of problem with it, I'll make him squeal. He [00:07:00] could do that. He could not take away the healthcare subsidies. He cannot defund Medicaid. All that stuff that he did that measurably makes it harder for people like that door dash grandma to pay for health insurance, but he doesn't. And then I just want one more image. This is friend [00:07:16] of the show Max Burns, who points this out. The door he opens is a door to the Oval Office and through it and outside of it, you can see all of the gaudy, ugly, tacky, tasteless, gold that he has gilded the people's house with. She is a gig worker that is made to do a song [00:07:38] and dance for the fact that she's gonna save $1,000, $2,000 off of her taxes. And he is in a room that he is gradually filling with gold that we paid for. I don't know if there's a better image for her time than that. You know what TYT has always been about?
