Trump Demands Colbert Be 'Put To Sleep'

President Donald Trump seemingly threatened comedian Stephen Colbert, calling him a "dead man walking."
  • 10 minutes
Just before Christmas Eve. Donald Trump did what you do. When the holidays are coming. Start thinking about your enemies and how much you'd like them to die. So in this case, it's Donald Trump on Stephen Colbert. He called him a dead man walking and instructed CBS, which he now has quite a bit of sway over, thanks to Barry Weiss to put him to sleep [00:00:19] now, which the guy already lost his job. His show isn't going to be around for much longer. It seems a bit petty. What do you think? Yeah. I mean, look, Trump was born petty. So that's not the surprising part at all. We really need to bring down the temperature with the language we were told [00:00:36] by Trump and his allies. Apparently not. The language is back to an 11 about comics who dared to criticize politicians. But the more important part of this story, and where I'm going to get more animated, is his threat to shut down any media that doesn't agree with Donald Trump. [00:00:55] If you don't get that, that's what authoritarian leaders do. Well, you might accidentally be in favor of authoritarian leaders. But anyway, so here's what the president posted on Christmas Eve. Stephen Colbert is a pathetic trainwreck with no talent or anything else necessary [00:01:12] for show business success. Now, after being terminated by CBS but left out to dry, he has actually gotten worse along with his non-existent ratings. Well, I don't know what his ratings are, but I know one guy who's watching him, by the way, really fast. Before we continue, Stephen Colbert wasn't broadcasting. [00:01:28] They played a rerun of a Stephen Colbert episode where he was critical towards the president, which he often is. And Donald Trump freaked out over a rerun of Stephen Colbert. He says Stephen is running on hatred and fumes, a dead man walking. [00:01:44] CBS should put him to sleep. Now it is the humanitarian thing to do. And when I think of Stephen Colbert and Donald Trump and specifically Donald Trump posting about Stephen Colbert on Christmas Eve rather than spending time with his wife or kids, I think Stephen's the one running on hatred. [00:01:59] I think the president's right about that. But anyway, that's not the end of Donald Trump's crash out on Christmas, he posted. There was one period where he was posting, on average every two minutes for an extended period of the holiday. But I just want to remind everyone when they were berating us [00:02:15] that we need to lower the temperature. Take a look. I don't know enough about that particular organization, but what you increasingly see, Jesse, is you see people in the trans community and other members of the far left who are saying they are so threatened by negative rhetoric that they [00:02:31] must take arms and attack people. If your movement is telling you to commit acts of violence against people for speaking words that you don't like, number one, you're evil. And number two, you are engaged in a terrorist movement. And that's part of what we have to root out in the white House. [00:02:47] And this is very important. Jesse talked to a lot of people about this. I talked to Stephen Miller probably seven times in the past two days. We are working very hard to ensure that the funding networks for left wing violence, that the radicalization networks for left wing violence, [00:03:04] that if you encourage or fund your fellow Americans or anybody else to commit acts of violence because you disagree with political speech, you are going to be treated like a terrorist organization, and we're going to go after you. Yeah. [00:03:19] And so there was a lot of that all over the place. It might be worse coming from J.D. Vance, because of course, he obviously, like, is so incredibly horny to be president in 2028. And he's showing there that he is willing to knowingly lie about the left. He knows that that's not a thing the left does. [00:03:35] There's no funding apparatus, there's no constant calls for violence or anything like that. And he knows that when there is calls for civil war and for violence, 95% of the time, it's coming from the right. He is knowingly lying about that to justify cracking down on nonviolent speech. [00:03:50] That's the whole point of all of this. They want to shut down the left's not just the left, the Democratic Party's ability to fundraise. All of this is massively authoritarian. And he's using, you know, the fact that there is some violence as an excuse to do that. [00:04:06] Now, Jake, as you said, Donald Trump doesn't just, you know, use this violent language towards Stephen Colbert. He did actually get the guy fired, and that's not enough for him. So he later tweeted that same night, Christmas Eve. If network newscasts and their late night shows are almost 100% negative [00:04:24] to President Donald J. Trump, MAGA and the Republican Party, shouldn't their very valuable broadcast licenses be terminated? I say yes, and that's what he's saying about, you know, a number of different networks. But obviously CBS is one of them. And it's well, first of all, look, Jake, as I'm sure you're going to point out, [00:04:41] the idea that they're for free speech is an absolute it's a it's ridiculous. It's an utter lie. But they already have taken fairly direct control of CBS news. They've already defanged CBS news ability to do actual journalism. But so long as there is anything even comedic criticism of the regime, [00:05:00] he's not going to rest. That's how viciously opposed to free speech they are. What do you think? Yeah, look, there's a couple of elements here, too. First of all, Trump's supposed to be a tough MAGA guy. Oh, yeah? Well, I mean, when a comic makes a joke about you and you catch feelings and you [00:05:17] start crying like a 13 year old girl. Sorry. Not that tough. Okay. Not at all tough. I mean, one joke will trigger the hell out of him. I mean, a lot of maggots, you know, proud of the trolling. And they're like, are we troll you guys? You catch feelings. [00:05:33] We have a good laugh. I mean, who's easier to troll than Donald Trump? Just the simplest little joke. And he's in a ball of tears. Oh, he's a dead man. We should shut down anything that is opposed to me. I mean, how do you not see it, guys? What a bitch. [00:05:52] Okay, so that's point one. Point two is if you think that it's like pro-freedom to take away freedom of speech and freedom of the press because a politician's feoffees have been hurt. I don't think you get the concept of freedom. [00:06:08] Okay, so let me do shoe on the other foot. See how you like it. So while Biden was president, all of us, including me, who was saying that he had mental difficulties and maybe had dementia. Biden could have said, that's it. I'm suing, you know, Betty Johnson and Tim Pool and Patrick McDavid and Jake Unger [00:06:28] and the Young Turks and everyone. I don't have dementia. I have mental decline. You guys were wrong. Ha, ha. Defamation. Shut them all down. You all owe me 15 million. 150 million, a billion. That's it. Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens. [00:06:44] Everyone's bankrupt because you hurt my feelings. Okay, you want that? I don't want that. That's garbage. And that's authoritarian junk. And it's super weak. So, hey, if you want to support that, you. [00:07:00] That's the bed you're lying in. But I'm for America, and I'm for freedom. - And this ain't it. - Yeah, 100%. Look, I'm really worried about, you know, this. How much control he's taken over the media. Not only like, allowing. Like allowing for some mergers, blocking others, getting his toadies and his hacks [00:07:18] embedded inside of these, you know, like CBS news, but also the legal settlements that he's had, the fact that, you know, Bezos wants Donald Trump to go easy on him. So Washington Post isn't really in the journalism game anymore. They've they've done all this one year in like this feels like hungry but [00:07:36] even faster their control over the media. And so I can't even imagine if this goes on for three more years, how much control they'll have taken over all of these different channels. And I think that people should be really worried about it. And honestly, to some extent, I feel a little bit like like the threats he makes against Stephen Colbert are serious. [00:07:53] Stephen Colbert was fired, but also it almost feels a little bit like a convenient, hyperbolic, clownish distraction from, like, Barry Weiss, who's like, doing more damage, but it's less sexy, you know, like people don't think about it as much [00:08:08] because it doesn't involve a celebrity like Stephen Colbert or like what Larry Ellison is getting up to. Like, I almost feel like he's sort of taking people's eyes off of the more substantive, like, but less exciting business side of this. Both are dangerous. - Anyway, just something to think about. - Yeah. [00:08:24] You know, I want to read the last quote here because it's important. Trump has privately said that George Soros assured him that he would turn CBS news, which Ellison took over when they bought Paramount. I'm sorry Soros people took over when they bought Paramount into a more liberal outlet. Two people with knowledge of the president's comments. [00:08:40] Oh, right. No, sorry, that's not Soros. It's not liberal, it's Larry. It's more conservative and it's Larry Ellison. So basically, when conservatives complain all the time Soros is buying this or that, Soros is doing this and he's making everyone more liberal. [00:08:57] Now Ellison is buying everything and he's not making things more conservative. He doesn't care. He used to donate mainly to Democrats before. The only thing he cares about is Israel. So in order to help Israel, he's saying to Trump, oh, for now, I'll make it totally more conservative so that you'll like it [00:09:13] so that you'll help bomb Iran and all the other things that Israel wants, right? By the way, later when a Democratic president gets into charge, then I'll turn it into a liberal news outlet as long as they're in support of bombing Israel. So this is the hilarious junk media that we have. [00:09:29] The only upside of like, Trump attacking all of these establishment media networks. There's no upside to it. It's just they're useless anyway. So if you didn't know they were doing junk propaganda in favor of donors, [00:09:45] the establishment, the powerful, and yes, Israel. Wakey, wakey. So they're just more useless than they were before. So you could say that without saying I want them all shut down because they have offended me. They can say whatever they want. [00:10:01] We can say whatever we want, and don't worry, we're going to win. Okay, so that's how you deal with it in a country that's free. Yeah. Well, but also to have that position, you'd have to be strong. And Donald Trump just can't make that happen for some reason. [00:10:17] Every time you ring the bell below, an angel gets his wings. Totally not true. But it does keep you updated on our live shows.
