ABC has announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return to air.

Today, Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! Will be returning to the airwaves tomorrow, and according to an anonymous source who spoke to CNBC, Kimmel will be addressing his suspension on his show. In a statement, Disney explained Last Wednesday, we made the decision [00:00:17] to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last day since having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and [00:00:36] after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday. Now, as of producing this story, representatives for Nexstar and Sinclair did not respond to requests for comment. Before ABC suspended Kim Kimmel's show altogether, Nexstar and Sinclair stated [00:00:55] they would not let their ABC affiliated stations air Kimmel's show. Time will tell if they still want to do so. But Brett, this is, kind of a quickly moving suspension, reinstatement. It does seem like public pressure and also like celeb and talent pressure [00:01:14] pulling out of events. The open letter released earlier today. It seems like that may have had some impact on Disney's decision. What do you what do you think? I will disclose that I am a contributor at ABC news, specials. So, you can deny everything I say, whether if you like. [00:01:32] If you don't like it, that's great. But, yeah, I think that in these scenarios, at least they said we're suspending him, as opposed to what Fox used to do all the time, which, like Tucker's going on vacation. What a crazy turn of events that his timing would be so perfect that after he alienated everybody, now he's going on vacation. [00:01:50] I think that in in the wake of the decision to get him suspended, in my personal opinion and read on, it is that they wanted to suspend him for financial reasons. And that's the reason a lot of this stuff happens is financial reasons. [00:02:08] They didn't want to and usually in the past you would get suspended or something would happen. You'd have some kind of negative consequence from the network because you lost a sponsor. And that sponsor represents, let's say, $1 million. In this scenario, I think the reason that ABC took him off the air probably [00:02:28] and will maybe learn more tomorrow on his show, that will be wildly have huge ratings, giant ratings. Is that it was an existential threat to ABC network at all? There's a great consolidation of affiliates. [00:02:45] So the way that it works is you got network, right? And that's like people in Los Angeles who have a bunch of studios in Burbank, and they make they pay to make the content, all over the world. But that's ABC, right? [00:03:00] And then they beam the signal to a bunch of local stations. Those are the affiliates. And these little, largely or these companies, largely conservative companies. They are the ones who are in charge of broadcasting that to anyone, [00:03:16] and they seemed to be the ones, who themselves did not want Kimmel out there, and they were essentially colluding in what I would say is a very scary fascist way with a censorious government to get rid of dissent. [00:03:32] And that's bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. But the way it's worse than it ever had been before was that they were threatening for ABC to go away. Not for Kimmel to lose $1 million, but for ABC to disappear because they would all pull out. And there's only like three companies that own all of them. [00:03:48] Two of them are trying to merge or one's trying to buy another one. So it's really, really terrible. I hate the direction that everything was going in, but I think them about facing is healthy is good. But the thing where they get rid of him because the president [00:04:05] and his cronies are threatening, like essentially you want to say free speech, you want to say like, the right to be a comedian like that is horrible. And I'm glad that it's reversed. It shouldn't have happened in the first place. Every time you ring the bell below, an angel gets his wings. [00:04:20] Totally not true, but it does keep you updated on our live shows.
