Dean Phillips Makes A WILDLY ACCURATE Comparison of MSNBC And Fox News
Former Democratic congressman Dean Phillips compared MSNBC and Fox News on News Not Noise with Jessica Yellin podcast.
- 7 minutes
Not going to use names here, but I've
had confirmation that the minute that I
announced my campaign in the primary,
which was not aggressive,
I didn't receive a single invitation
from MSNBC any longer.
Despite being the ranking member
of the Middle East Subcommittee
on Foreign Affairs,
a regular guest on various MSNBC shows.
[00:00:18]
Not a single invitation.
Former Democratic congressman
and primary challenger to Joe Biden,
Dean Phillips, had some harsh words
for MSNBC this week and even claimed
to have been blacklisted from the network.
Jank.
You used to be a host on MSNBC
and have spoken out against them
[00:00:36]
and their treatment of you in the past.
What are your initial thoughts here?
Well, I can confirm
I am definitely blacklisted at MSNBC.
And so MSNBC does have a blacklist,
and I'm positive that Dean Phillips
was on it, because MSNBC at this point
is nothing but propaganda,
[00:00:54]
not for Democrats, but for
Democratic leaders, Democratic politicians
at the top, the Democratic establishment.
If you are a Democrat like Bernie Sanders.
They'll rip your face off.
They'll they'll, you know,
they'll call you everything in the world.
[00:01:09]
They'll imply you're racist,
sexist, etc., right?
But if you're Dean Phillips
and you're challenging Joe Biden,
persona non grata, blacklisted.
So that's not journalism.
It's not even close. It's not news.
So if MSNBC says, look, guys, we're just
doing propaganda for corporate Democrats,
[00:01:26]
then I can live with it, no problem.
At least truth in advertising.
And obviously we ban anyone who dares
challenge them, even Dean Phillips,
who is not really a progressive at all.
Right.
He's a moderate Democrat in in Congress.
We'll even ban him.
[00:01:42]
Okay.
So just say it. Just admit it.
By the way, MSNBC, are you going to answer
him or are you not going to answer him?
Was he banned or was he not banned?
You know, he was banned.
You know I'm banned.
No, no, we're the elites. We're MSNBC.
We don't have to answer anyone. Well.
[00:01:59]
All right. Enjoy your ratings.
During an appearance on Jessica Yellin's
News Not Noise podcast,
the former Minnesota Democrat called out
MSNBC for being the media arm of the DNC.
Take a look.
I was one of the Democrats that for years
just saw Fox News as a mechanism
[00:02:16]
of the Republican Party, right, as the the
media division of the RNC, if you will.
Little did I know that MSNBC is
exactly the same, probably, frankly,
even more directly tied if you look
at the talent and management at MSNBC.
[00:02:33]
Obama alums, Biden alums,
there's a revolving door.
Members of Congress become consultants.
I mean, sorry, become lobbyists
and former administration members.
Go on to media. Look at Jen Psaki.
Look at you can just look down the list
a minute that I announced my campaign
[00:02:50]
in the primary, which was not aggressive.
I didn't receive a single invitation
from MSNBC any longer.
Despite being the ranking member
of the Middle East Subcommittee
on Foreign Affairs,
a regular guest on various MSNBC shows.
Not a single invitation until the morning
after the South Carolina primary,
[00:03:08]
which was by design.
That was Joe Biden's strong turf,
and I was relentlessly attacked
that next morning.
Dean Phillips told Politico in January
of last year he was being blackballed
by MSNBC specifically.
I'm appalled. I'm disappointed.
[00:03:24]
I'm disgusted that professionals
who ostensibly have committed their
entire careers to sharing truth and to
providing facts and to sharing information
with American voters are fundamentally
avoiding the responsibilities.
Right.
Media has been more than invitational.
I don't think there's an MSNBC viewer
that even knows that I'm a congressman,
[00:03:42]
because what's being portrayed
is designed to prevent that education.
He added, I do know of specific cases
where representatives of the Biden
campaign have been very clear to others
about trying to not attend events of mine,
to not support me and to not platform me.
[00:03:58]
It's almost antithetical to democratic
principles, which include debate,
deliberation, and ultimately compromise.
And when the Biden team was confronted
by Politico with those rumors,
a campaign spokesperson just replied with,
quote, L. O. L. Now, Jackson,
[00:04:15]
before we wrap, let's bring you in here.
What do you make of what Dean
Phillips is saying here?
I mean, it's the truth.
And just in general.
I mean, think about, like, right
after the election and how, you know,
news outlets, whether it's, you know,
The Washington Post, MSNBC,
the people that, they ended up letting go
[00:04:32]
or, what was denied, like in the LA times.
Different types of articles.
You can't write these
because it challenges the, the
administration in some form or fashion.
On the one hand, the assumption that,
you know, as they were saying,
we have a mandate, which of course,
they don't have a mandate, but that oh,
[00:04:50]
well, this is what all of Americans want.
So let's go ahead and just get in line.
But also them just bending the knee
and, kissing Trump's behind because they
know that that could get them favor.
But also that's the only way
that they can have access
to interviewing him in any capacity.
[00:05:05]
I mean, you know, look
at the at the press, at the press room,
they got these, you know,
right wing online news shows in there
and more and more, they just don't want
to be questioned or challenged in any way.
So they're just capitulating
as much as possible
[00:05:21]
and there's no denying it whatsoever.
Yeah.
So I a telling quote in there
was he said, you know,
their viewers probably don't even know
that I'm a Democratic congressman.
That's not by accident.
They make everyone who runs in a primary
against a corporate Democrat
[00:05:39]
seem like they're a Republican.
Like a great example of it
was Nina Turner's running in Cleveland.
She's running against Shontel Brown.
She has a huge lead, by the way.
Then AIPAC and crypto bros come in
and start spending $4 million against her.
And but that wasn't her main problem.
[00:05:55]
Her main problem is mainstream media,
because mainstream media
took her quote where she said, voting for
Biden is like eating a half full of crap,
half a half full bowl of crap.
Voting for Trump is like eating
a completely full bowl of crap, right?
[00:06:13]
So Trump is twice as bad?
Definitely worse.
An entire bowl of crap, right?
The media never said the second part.
They only said the first part.
Nina Turner says voting for Biden
is like eating half a bowl of crap.
[00:06:29]
And every time they implied she
was a Republican when I ran for Congress,
you should see the New York Times,
LA times, CNN articles.
If you read those, you'd think,
oh, this guy is deeply Republican.
He hates Muslims.
Doesn't mention how Muslim?
ET cetera. ET cetera.
Like they paint progressive's populist
outsiders as if we are against Democrats.
[00:06:47]
And we are Republicans and right wingers
because they're liars.
Now I'm going to do is
in the bonus episode for our members.

stories of my time at MSNBC, and one time

when I was allowed to criticize Obama.
