Trump BUTCHERS Hurricane Helene Remarks
Hurricane Helene has proved to be a deadly storm with massive damage and a heavy death toll, a storm that former President Donald Trump "nobody thought" would hit.
- 15 minutes
The North Carolina, South Carolina,
Florida, Virginia, Alabama, and Tennessee.
That's a big one.
And the devastation wrought
by this storm is incredible.
It's so extensive.
Nobody thought this would be happening,
especially now.
[00:00:15]
It's so late in the season
for the hurricanes.
Well, despite what you heard
from former President Donald Trump
in that statement, it turns out that
a lot of people predicted
that this hurricane would be devastating.
And even though he says that the hurricane
hit late in the season, in reality we are
[00:00:33]
currently in peak hurricane season now,
according to the Florida Climate Center
at Florida State University.
Hurricane season on the United States
Atlantic Coast lasts from June 1st
until November 30th, with the peak coming
between mid-August and late October.
[00:00:50]
But there were a lot of predictions about
how devastating this hurricane would be,
and devastating it was.
We now know that at least 128 28 people
have been killed
as a result of this hurricane.
It has been a complete and utter disaster
across six separate states.
[00:01:09]
The hurricane was described
as a monstrous category four
when it made landfall in Florida.
As I mentioned,
at least 128 people are dead,
but the death toll is expected to rise.
Entire communities have been wiped off
the map. 56 people have been reported dead
[00:01:25]
in North Carolina
as a result of this storm alone, and an
estimated 600 people are still missing.
CNN reports that in addition
to the 56 people killed in North Carolina,
Hurricane Helene also killed
at least 30 victims in South Carolina,
25 in Georgia, 11 in Florida,
four in Tennessee and two in Virginia.
[00:01:46]
But remember,
the numbers are expected to rise.
And again, the destruction spans
six separate states.
Right now, survivors are struggling
to get the food
and other essentials they need to survive.
And part of the reason why is because
the roads and bridges necessary to get aid
[00:02:04]
to them have either been severely damaged
or no longer exist at all.
It is a complete and utter nightmare.
And look, I get that we live
in a hyper politicized world right now,
but can we just take a beat
and not attack political opponents
[00:02:22]
by using this storm as an excuse to do it?
And when it comes to Donald Trump,
the answer is no.
Now I'm going to get to more of his
attacks, this time against Kamala Harris
and other governors in the state
in just a moment.
But, Jake, 1.5 million people
currently are left without power.
[00:02:40]
- It is absolute devastation.
- Yeah.
So, look, hurricanes are sometimes
defined how a politician,
has empathy or doesn't have empathy.
And so there's a famous picture
of George W Bush
looking down at the people of Louisiana
as he flies over Hurricane Katrina.
[00:02:58]
And so that was obviously a not
the right way to handle that.
There's, of course, Donald Trump.
We'll talk about it in Trump brackets.com
segment a little bit later where he
throws the the paper towels at the people
of Puerto Rico flippantly, etc..
So Trump is trying to recreate that
for the Democrats.
[00:03:14]
Except it didn't happen.
They responded immediately.
The Republicans, including Governor
Kemp of Georgia, thanked him profusely
for responding immediately.
They've done everything they possibly can,
so Trump has to just lie about it.
But that's not at all surprising.
[00:03:30]
If you don't know that Donald Trump
is a massive liar and you should
never take anything he says seriously.
You're already MAGA and you're not going
to listen to reason anyway.
Hey, don't scroll away,
come back, come back.
Because before the video continues,
we just want to urge you
to lend your support to TYT.
[00:03:46]
You power our honest reporting.
You do it at tight.com/team
and we love you for it.
Okay, so before we get to more
Trump stuff, let me just say this.
My heart breaks for the people who have
lost everything as a result of this storm
[00:04:03]
I think of the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
Most families who lost everything
as a result of that storm
have still not been made whole.
I think about the wildfires in Maui
and how the people, the residents of that
[00:04:18]
community who were devastated by that fire
have still not been made whole.
These insurance companies
continue to give them the runaround.
Many of these people
have remained homeless
as a result of these natural disasters
and disasters caused by utility companies.
In some cases, it makes me so angry
[00:04:37]
to look, we obviously have resources.
This is a wealthy country,
but we never take care of our own
and it really upsets me.
Jake, why do we abandon
our own again and again
and just we fund all sorts of nonsense.
[00:04:53]
We fund conflict and wars abroad.
We fund all sorts subsidies
for tremendously successful
and wealthy corporations.
I mean, we've got the money,
but it never goes toward our people.
And it bothers me.
Okay, just get that out.
No, I want to add one thing to that
and then add one lighter note.
[00:05:11]
So, on an unrelated story,
Benjamin Netanyahu, in the video we showed
you earlier in the show to Iran, said,
can you believe the mullahs are spending
all your money on military equipment
instead of giving you the education
and the health care you need?
And I thought, that's hilarious, right?
[00:05:28]
Because Israel spends almost no money
on military because we give it to them
and they have paid family leave,
they have universal health coverage.
- They had a.
- Budget surplus in 2022.
They had a budget surplus in 2022,
something that the United States
has not had since 2001.
[00:05:44]
But the US is paying for their weapons.
Why?
So we've given them over $300 billion
and you say, hey, listen, if it's going
towards peace and part of it is because
of the peace deal we did with Egypt,
there's good reasons to give aid abroad.
Right.
But are there bounds of reason
where you give another country
[00:06:01]
hundreds of billions of dollars,
but you refuse to take care of your own
and you refuse to spend money on your own.
Now, look, you could put aside Israel
and take any of these things.
I mean, we still have over $20 billion
in subsidies every year that the
American taxpayer gives the oil companies.
The oil companies need it more
than the people who are dealing
[00:06:18]
with a hurricane or natural disasters,
because the American citizens
always come in dead last, dead last.
They're the ATM, right?
All of these Americans who have
been victimized by this hurricane,
they're just seen as an ATM, right?
Pay your taxes like good boys and girls.
[00:06:36]
And that money is not going to go back to
improving your life or taking care of you.
If you've lost everything in a devastating
hurricane, that money will go to all sorts
of nonsense and you're going to shut up
and take it like that's what I'm getting
so frustrated with.
So so, so let me lighten the mood for
you just a second and then we'll go back
[00:06:53]
to the frustration.
So Trump said there nobody knew that
there was going to be a hurricane this big
in the middle of hurricane season,
peak hurricane season.
So now if you remember,
this is what he also said at the beginning
of his first term about health care.
Watch.
[00:07:09]
It's an unbelievably complex subject.
Nobody knew that health care
could be so complicated.
Yeah. Everybody did.
Everybody knows it's hurricane season
and that health care is complicated.
What Trump does
is he takes his own ignorance
and projects it onto everyone else.
[00:07:25]
Yeah, no one knew
health care was complicated.
No, you didn't know
health care was complicated
because you're not very bright.
You didn't know it was hurricane season,
even though you were president
for four years
and even moved a hurricane with a Sharpie.
He didn't actually move the hurricane.
He thought he did in his own mind.
[00:07:40]
And he still doesn't know
when hurricane season is.
He's unbelievable.
It's just like the lack of curiosity
about the world around us, right?
I mean, you want to be
president of the United States.
You would want to know
what policies are broken.
Our health care system
has been broken for a long time.
How did you not know that?
[00:07:56]
Health care is tremendously
complicated anyway.
But let's get back to the storm
and how he is.
Unfortunately, using this moment where
people are in a lot of pain to weirdly
attack his political opponents with lies.
So Trump attacked Kamala Harris by
accusing her of abandoning the victims of
[00:08:14]
the hurricane and leaving them to drown.
He did so in a Truth Social post.
What he did is he shared a screenshot of
something that Kamala Harris had posted on
X. She was apparently taking a phone call
about the hurricane on Air Force two,
[00:08:31]
and she talks about how she
was briefed about the hurricane
and the ongoing impacts of it.
We also discussed the administration's
continued actions to support
the emergency response and recovery.
I also spoke to North Carolina's governor
about the ongoing rescue
[00:08:47]
and recovery efforts in North Carolina.
You know, just kind of keeping the public
up to date on her involvement
in the rescue efforts and the aid efforts.
So Donald Trump does a screenshot
of that post
and just, like loses it on Truth Social,
saying another fake and staged photo from
[00:09:04]
someone who has no clue what she is doing.
You have to plug the cord
into the phone for it to work.
- Wait, let's look at the photo again.
- No, no, he's not crazy about this one.
You see how she's got the one
hanging from her right ear?
- The the.
- Those are her headphones.
[00:09:20]
Headphones? But it's not.
It doesn't appear to be connected
to the phone on the desk.
I see, it might be the angle that they
took it at and it might be connected,
but at least it's not one of those
lunatic conspiracy theories
about how she eyes her whole crowd
and no one actually shows up.
I was looking to see if it was crazy,
but this one's officially not crazy.
[00:09:38]
Also the photo.
The photo is definitely staged.
Like, oh yeah, definitely the photo stage.
But like, is Kamala Harris
involved in the relief efforts
and, you know, the rescue efforts?
That's the real question. Yeah.
And I got an answer to that too.
But the reason that he talks about staged
photos is because when he was president,
[00:09:56]
they did endless stage photos.
Everybody does stage photos.
And I was gonna say, to be fair to Trump,
to every president does stage photos
and every vice president does.
So that's why I said,
can you believe this is staged photo?
He would do these hilarious photos
in these tiny desks.
You remember those? I do.
And he looked like a little kid
in school, right?
[00:10:11]
I'm like, if you're going to stage
the photo, find a better desk, right?
- I mean.
- I appreciated the tiny desks.
It reminded me
of my elementary school days.
It was fun. It was fun.
Yeah. Now do the vice.
Does the vice president
normally get involved in stuff like this?
No, she.
If she's involved at all, it's
because they want to say that they want
[00:10:29]
to be able to say that she's involved.
But normally a vice president,
unless they're assigned by the president
to some menial task involved in this,
generally are not involved in this.
Now, going back to what you were saying,
Jake, about Donald Trump projecting,
I think that he was also projecting
when he accused
[00:10:45]
the Democratic governor of North Carolina,
Roy Cooper, of abandoning
Republican constituents and refusing
to help them in Republican areas.
And the reason why I say
I think it's projection is because Donald
[00:11:00]
Trump did like to punish blue states
through his policies.
- Yes.
- Yes.
- And he bragged about it, and he.
- Bragged about it.
So he didn't vote for me.
Okay, you know what I'm gonna do?
So, hey, Texas and Florida were
very strong for me, so I gotta help them.
[00:11:17]
Okay. I mean, he's such a knucklehead.
He just says whatever's in it
off the top of his head.
Now, I want to go to video three here
because NBC news correspondent
Garrett Hake was like,
all right, well, he's throwing out
some pretty serious allegations here.
[00:11:33]
And I want to know where these
allegations are coming from.
You know, is there any meat on the bones?
Let's watch.
He had been saying on Truth Social
that he believes Democrats,
specifically the governor of North
Carolina and the federal government,
have been intentionally denying aid
to Republican parts of the Tar Heel State.
[00:11:49]
I asked him what, if any,
evidence he had to back that up.
You can see what he said here.
Stephanie.
Democrats
intentionally not getting aid to.
I told you that.
- What was that in reference.
- To Governor Kemp?
[00:12:05]
Take a look. Where's that coming from?
Biden did call governor evidence for that.
Mr. President, you got to vote.
Trump people.
So his only response was
you'll have to take a look.
And then he walked away.
Didn't provide any receipts,
unsurprisingly.
[00:12:21]
But we're going to provide
some receipts real quick
because he made some allegations
about Georgia's governor, Brian Kemp.
He says that Brian Kemp was having
a hard time getting President Joe Biden
to help with the relief efforts.
[00:12:36]
But it turns out that he said that
after Brian Kemp
had disclosed something about Biden.
Let's take a look.
We do need some help
from the federal government.
They have to get together,
ideally with the governor.
The governor needs to.
[00:12:53]
He's been trying to get them, and I'm
sure they're going to come through.
But he's been calling the president
hasn't been able to get him.
I just spoke to the president,
just called me yesterday afternoon.
I missed him and called him right back.
And he just said, hey, what do you need?
[00:13:10]
And I told him, you know,
we got what we need.
We'll work through the federal process.
He offered that if there's other things
we need just to call him directly,
which I appreciate that.
Oops.
So, look, I get it.
It's a presidential election.
[00:13:26]
Everyone's campaigning, but maybe just
hands off this issue, considering the fact
that people are still missing.
Yeah.
Family members are finding out about
their loved ones, being found dead
as a result of this hurricane,
like, just bounds of reason, please.
[00:13:46]
- There are no bounds of reason.
- Come on.
There are absolutely no bounds of reason.
He couldn't care less about those people.
Just wants to use him
as a political gimmick and a punch line.
And so that's what he'll do.
And, you know, look, at this point,
we're a little less than 40 days
before the election.
If you don't know
that Trump's a pathological liar,
[00:14:02]
you're going to vote for Trump, right?
I get it.
You think, oh, yeah,
whatever he says is more true
than all the evidence in the world.
Even if I hear it
from a Republican governor's mouth
that President Biden called him
and that Donald Trump was lying about it,
and he offered him
any and every assistance, and Donald Trump
[00:14:18]
was outrageously lying about it.
It doesn't matter. It never matters.
He was trolling. He was kidding.
He was taken out of context.
He's a demigod.
I'll let him sleep with my wife.
Whatever maga you do, you okay?
But the rest of us understand this Trump
guy is a pathological liar, and he's going
[00:14:34]
to terrorize us for four more years.
If he wins this race every day,
he's going to come out with a new lie,
something outrageous.
He's going to smear
this person and that person.
He's going to put lives in danger
by like, look,
the Haitians are afraid for their life.
And now in Ohio,
because he got his lunatic followers
[00:14:50]
to believe they're eating cats and dogs,
so will his followers believe that Biden
didn't help when he overwhelmingly helped?
Of course they will, because they believe
every lie from this pathological liar.
And by the way, just to answer any
questions about whether or not
the victims of this hurricane
are going to get the help they need, it
[00:15:06]
doesn't matter which party is in charge.
Okay.
Recent natural disasters
and the aftermath of those disasters
have shown us that the victims
never get the help that they need.
Okay.
How many of them are still homeless
from previous natural disasters?
[00:15:23]
So that's the real injustice here.
And something's got to give.
Something's got to change.
Especially when it comes
to insurance companies that these people
dutifully pay year after year.
And then once they need the insurance
companies to pay out claims because of
these natural disasters, they are left
abandoned by the insurance companies.
[00:15:42]
That's a huge problem.
Maybe we discuss that a little bit.
