Trump: Harris Will Give You HEALTHCARE
Former President Donald Trump has made arguments in the past for universal healthcare.
- 7 minutes
She's a very strong communist. Lean.
You're all going to be thrown
into a communist system.
It's a communist system.
You're going to be thrown into a system
where everybody gets health care.
Donald Trump is now officially running
on threatening people with a good time.
[00:00:16]
Look, he knows that millions of Americans,
like, desperately need health care.
And the way that he scares them is to say
that you're all going to have health care.
Okay, clearly a political genius
and a stable genius.
But anyway, it's crazy to declare
that Kamala Harris in general is
[00:00:31]
a communist, or that she, in particular on
health care is going to function
as some sort of communist.
And so although Harris has previously
supported Medicare for all, she has
since distanced herself from the idea,
and a spokesperson recently confirmed
to NBC news that she will not push
[00:00:47]
single payer as president.
And so what do you know?
Donald Trump has told his first lie
of the campaign, I guess.
But the interesting thing
she's not going to be pushing
for single payer health care.
Do you know who did push for single payer
health care for literally decades.
[00:01:04]
Donald Trump actually, back in 1999, Trump
told Larry King that health care should
be considered, quote, an entitlement
and said, I believe in universal
health care, which is pretty specific.
I believe in whatever it takes
to make people well and better.
He praised Canada's single payer system
in his 2000 book The America We Deserve,
[00:01:24]
citing its cost efficiency and the longer,
healthier lives of Canadians compared to
Americans, which, praising Canada's single
payer health care system, seems like the
sort of thing that would anger the right.
But in defense of Donald Trump,
that was in one of his books.
And so he probably had nothing
to do with it whatsoever.
[00:01:40]
But he's made a lot of statements
like this in May 2017.
So this isn't just decades ago,
he told Malcolm Turnbull, the prime
minister of Australia, that, quote,
you have better health care than we do.
They have a single payer system.
In January of 2017, he said, we're going
to have insurance for everybody.
[00:01:58]
In September of 2015, he said,
everybody's got to be covered.
I'm going to take care of everybody.
I don't care if it costs me votes or not,
because coming out in support
of single payer health care
as a Republican could cost him votes.
But I am going to take care of everybody,
not the private health
[00:02:13]
insurance industry will I will do it.
And then in 2000,
to go back again, he says.
I'm a conservative on most issues,
but a liberal on health.
We must take care of our own.
We must have universal health care.
And so look,
obviously he's turned against that now.
[00:02:30]
And, you know, he has said that he wants
to kill the Affordable Care Act
and replace it with something.
We don't know what.
As I sort of joked about earlier, he
promised a health care plan in two weeks.
And you can see in this opinion piece
from the Washington Post, it's been two
[00:02:46]
weeks and so we'll probably know soon.
Sorry, that's actually a headline
from 2020.
And so it's been four years and two weeks
since he told us what he's going
to do on like a minor policy area,
like health care
after he's already run for years
[00:03:03]
on killing the system we have right now.
And so I understand why he would want
to fear monger around Kamala Harris.
He apparently doesn't
have any plan on this.
- Hey, don't scroll away.
- Come back, come back.
Because before the video continues,
we just want to urge you
[00:03:18]
to lend your support to TYT.

and we love you for it.
So surprising because one of the first
things he said when he was president
is they were having meetings
about how to replace Obamacare
and what to replace it with.
[00:03:34]
You'll be shocked to find out they never
came up with a plan to replace Obamacare.
And he came out and said nobody knew
that health care was this complicated.
Yeah.
All right, brother. Yeah, we all knew.
So he said, if you have universal health
care in that clip, you're a communist.
[00:03:50]
Well, I didn't know that literally
every developed nation on earth
other than us are apparently communists.
So Germany, UK, you just name Norway,
Japan, all communist.
[00:04:05]
Okay, so no, everyone has
universal health care except us, even
though we're the richest nation on Earth.
On average, it costs half of what it
costs here and it delivers better results.
They have higher life expectancy
and better health
in those countries than we do.
[00:04:22]
We're the lone country
that has corporate rule
that dominates so badly that we don't.
We're the only ones
that don't have universal health care.
The reason why Trump was saying
back in 99 and 2000,
well, obviously we should have universal
health care is because at that point,
[00:04:37]
we had not already lived
for several decades under
corporate mainstream media propaganda.
Since 2000, they've done about 24
years of are you going to pay for that?
How are you going to pay for that?
It's so expensive.
So it's not just Fox News
calling it communist.
[00:04:54]
CNN and oftentimes MSNBC
will scare the living crap out of anyone
that ever proposes universal health care.
When Bernie did it in the primaries,
they're like, oh.
Socialist, communist,
how are you going to pay for it?
It costs half as much.
I'm going to pay for it in half.
[00:05:10]
Twice.
Half. Half the money.
Left, right?
So everyone in mainstream media
has been a giant liar about this.
That's why Donald Trump
can say something as preposterous
as universal health care is communist,
and it doesn't seem as jarring to people,
because that's what Jake Tapper
[00:05:27]
has been saying for the last 20 years.
To pick one guy. All right.
- Maz.
- Yeah, it's amazing how he has.
He was and continues to say,
I've got a better plan for everything.
So his whole idea with trying to repeal
the Affordable Care Act the first
time was we're going to in two weeks,
we'll have a better plan.
[00:05:43]
It'll be better. It'll be fantastic.
And of course, as you said,
he never had a plan similar to him.
You know, when he got out of
the Iran Iran deal,
I'll have a better deal in two weeks.
Nothing happened after that.
Similar to him saying he's going to take
care of immigration and build a wall.
Nothing happened.
[00:05:59]
And so they don't have you know,
what it is.
It's a it's a culture of complaining
and saying, this is bad, this is wrong.
This is expensive
and really not having any solutions.
And to your guys's point as well,
what's bad about having health care
for our country.
[00:06:15]
They've really done a great job
of convincing a portion of the country
that can't afford health care,
that health care is bad for them,
because if they get health care,
then they're going to be communists
and the world is going to go to hell,
and they're going to come after your guns
and they're going to come after your
[00:06:30]
stoves, and they're going to come after
everything that that you stand up for,
that God forbid you're able to go
to a doctor
and not have to pay thousands of dollars
out of your pocket for health care.
So it's the most ridiculous thing
in the world.
And, and unfortunately, again,
there is a portion of the population
[00:06:47]
that believes this.
And to your point, the the corporate media
has done a good job
of making this seem like an actual thing.
They have no plans.
They have no actual better
solution for any of this.
In a nuanced world, they would say, look,
the Affordable Care Act isn't perfect.
Let's find ways of improving it.
[00:07:04]
But they have to go and say,
we need to get rid of it.
Obamacare. We've got to get rid of it.
I'm going to come up
with something better.
He's not going to come up
with something better.
And, and he makes comments like this.
The guy has nothing to offer.
He's got? Absolutely.
I mean, all you got to do
is watch two minutes of this
[00:07:19]
or listen to two minutes of his interview
with Elon Musk or whatever it is.
You realize going back
to the beginning of this program,
all he's got are personal attacks.
He's got nothing else.
And, you know, hopefully it'll continue
to reflect in his numbers as it goes down.
Kind of like his truth.
Social media numbers continue to go down.
[00:07:37]
Yeah 100% super.
Last thing is this is great politics
by Kamala Harris because look at this.
Now Donald Trump is arguing
against universal health care which is
enormously popular in this country.
So way to punch yourself
in the face, Donald Trump.
Nicely played.
