UPDATE: Boxer Wins Gold & Lawyers Up After Falsely Accused Of Being Transgender
UPDATE: Boxer Wins Gold & Lawyers Up After Falsely Accused Of Being Transgender
- 4 minutes
This is an update.
Boxer Imani Caliph lawyers
up after winning gold.
Why?
Because conservative Republicans, Fox
News, they said, oh, it's a transgender.
No, no, she's just a woman.
No. She's transgender.
[00:00:17]
Put it up. Full mask.
Hell of a thing. What?
They got to go through this
because of lies and MAGA, basically.
Okay, so, per the Daily Beast,
Algerian Olympic boxer Amani Khalif
has submitted a complaint
[00:00:34]
to French prosecutors for aggravated cyber
harassment following weeks of online
accusations that she is a transgender.
With millions watching and many people
benefiting from this program called
indisputable, we just need 1% of
the viewers to become a paid member so we
[00:00:51]
can continue to bring this content to you.
Now back to the show.
The news comes after a statement
released by French lawyer
and civil rights advocate Woody Knebel
announced the complaint on X,
so the attorney said in a statement,
quote,
after game time comes the time of justice.
[00:01:09]
Fresh from winning the gold medal
at the 2024 Paris Olympics, boxer Imani
Khalifa has decided to take on a new fight
that of justice, dignity and honor.
Mr. Khalifa contacted the firm
and filed a complaint for aggravated
cyber harassment with the Paris
Prosecutor's Office online hate unit.
[00:01:29]
They have that law.
That's a statute and they enforce it.
The attorney would describe
the harassment the athlete endured as,
quote, digital lynching and that, quote,
the unfair harassment suffered
by the boxing champion will remain
[00:01:45]
the biggest stain on these Olympic Games.
Once again, we're back
to racism in the Olympics.
And those responding.
Khalifa won gold on Friday,
beating out Chinese boxer Yang Lu Zero,
in the women's welterweight division.
[00:02:01]
The crowd celebrated the victory,
loudly chanting her name
and waving Algerian flags.
It was a beautiful moment.
The dispute around the gender, stems
from an International Boxing Association
[00:02:18]
decision to disqualify her and fellow
two time Olympian Li Yuting of Taiwan
from last year's World Championships,
claiming they both failed
an eligibility test.
However, the International Olympic
Committee called the test flawed.
[00:02:37]
After her win, Khalifa jumped
in the arms of her coach, who carried her
on his shoulders for a victory lap.
She said the victory was especially sweet
given all that she endured
during the Paris Games.
Quote.
That also gives my success a special taste
because of those attacks, she said.
[00:02:52]
For eight years, this has been my dream,
and I'm now the Olympic champion
and gold medalist.
I'm a woman like any other woman.
I was born as a woman, I live as a woman.
I'm.
And I'm qualified. It's just.
It's just so sad that she.
[00:03:08]
She has to remind people,
I was born a woman.
Fox news and conservative.
They got they got wind of this narrative
and they they just ate it up.
They didn't fact check anything.
They started to repeat this,
this ridiculous story.
[00:03:25]
They have producers and stuff.
No one decided to fact check it
and they just ran with it, which caused
even more misinformation, disinformation.
And now you have an Olympic champion with
a gold medal that's sour because of what?
[00:03:46]
Racism. Bigotry?
Prejudice.
Here we go, Mr. Mayor. Thoughts here?
I hope you said something earlier
about Donald Trump when he eyed the,
[00:04:02]
talking about picture the fact
that you are running for president,
the fact that you used to be president
and you're so easily subjected
to what these, internet spews are,
is absolutely ridiculous.
He was at one of his rallies,
and he mentioned her,
so I hope she pulled his name.
She needs to call brother Ben Crump
to help her out with this in America,
[00:04:19]
because, yeah, he stopped there.
If I was her,
I would definitely, definitely.
Because this this experience,
her gold medal experience is tainted.
Yeah, it's tainted
because of these people.
And it's absolutely disgusting
that millions and millions of people are
looking at her, questioning who she is.
[00:04:36]
And it is absolutely sad
that this is her memory of her chance.
- Her time.
- Yeah, it really is.
But you're right. I echo that sentiment.
Call Ben Crump now,
we don't have a criminal statute
for what these individuals did,
but you can get to that money.
We got some civil statutes
that they violated by misappropriating
[00:04:53]
and doing so in a way that was negligent.
