This week we are thrilled to bring you 5 Burning Questions with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez! She is a Justice Democrat running for Congress in New York’s 14th District and, apparently, has amazing taste in TV. Find out more about her campaign here.

TYT: What is your proudest moment?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: About 10 minutes before the polls closed on primary day, I was leaning up against a tree in my neighborhood jotting down a few thoughts about the campaign. We had worked so hard for over a year, and it was the last time our team would be organizing ahead of the primary election.   Right as I was leaning up against that tree, two teenage boys bouncing a basketball walked past me, stopped, and said “Hey! We just voted for you!”   In that moment, we had no idea whether we were going to win or lose. But to have mobilized two teenage young men to vote in an off-year midterm primary election, I felt that we had accomplished what we set out to do. At that point I felt so proud of our team, regardless of the outcome.

TYT: Is there an issue you wish people cared more about this election season?

AOC: Environmental justice. It is impacting everything—food, housing, transportation, racial injustices, our children’s futures, all of it. In 2016, we went through all four presidential debates without a single question on climate policy. With so much on the line, it’s unacceptable to fail on this issue. We need to make it an issue that people vote on.

TYT: What was the first piece of technology that changed your life?

AOC: Cell phone.

TYT: What's your favorite TV show?

AOC: I only watched one TV show during the campaign: RuPaul’s Drag Race.

TYT: What’s one surprising thing people don’t know about you?

AOC: I enjoy video games, but I'm also pretty bad at them.

We are ready for the RuPaul watch party! Thanks for reading!
