Donald Trump as president has been a game-changer in far more ways than anyone could possibly count, but one consistent theme that has run through his time in office - and long before he came into office as well - is the stream of whinging and lamentations about the allegedly unfair treatment he has suffered from virtually everyone else. He’s not so much the commander in chief as he is the complainer in chief.

In this clip from The Damage Report, John and Aqualus Gordon discuss the subject of Trump’s latest whine-fest, the upcoming debate with Joe Biden. In an interview on Fox News, Trump groused about the debate commission’s previous poor treatment of him, said they’re “not good people,” mentioned “Crooked Hillary,” brought up how poorly Savannah Guthrie behaved toward him during the most recent town hall event and generally implied that the commission changed the rules about muting microphones just to get him.

Aqualus describes Trump’s bitching as a “classic low-ball technique” to depress expectations for his performance so that when he does poorly he can say, “See, I told you they were out to get me,” while John notes that Trump has also enlisted campaign manager Bill Stepien for some complaining-by-proxy in the form of a letter sent to the debate commission objecting to the topics Trump and Biden will be addressing.
