Now that Donald Trump has left the political stage and Democrats are back in charge of the White House and both houses of Congress, Republican legislators will once again assume their familiar role as snipers from the sidelines, undermining, prevaricating and deceiving in order to derail even the possibility of enacting a left-leaning agenda. And among Republicans few are more sniveling in their sniping than Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who lived up to his billing recently by responding to the announcement that the Biden administration would rejoin the Paris Climate Accords by tweeting that Biden is quote, “more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of citizens of Pittsburgh.”

As Ana and Wosny Lambre discuss in this clip, for every d-bag Republican yin there’s a Democratic yang, and in this case it’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who immediately clapped back at Cruz, tweeting out the clarification that the Paris Accords are an international agreement involving 200 countries and aren’t about the people of Paris, before adding, “Or do you also believe the Geneva convention was about the views of the citizens of Geneva?” She also suggested she was asking quote, “for everyone who believes U.S. Senators should be competent and not undermine our elections to incite insurrection against the United States.” Ouch!

Wosny celebrates AOC’s epic dismissal of Cruz, and adds that the Texas Senator is among the biggest phonies in all of American politics, having done stints as a hardcore Christian Right representative, a Trump toady and now as a “man of the people” courageously battling powerful interests as a champion of the working men and women of the United States. For as Wosny points out, Cruz went to Princeton undergrad and Harvard Law School and then worked as a Supreme Court clerk. “This dude has done nothing but swim in elite circles basically his entire adult life,” he says.
