Donald Trump’s lawyers have proven themselves woefully, comically inept in their attempts to persuade judges, without the benefit of any evidence, to overturn the will of voters in swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia. But despite being rejected in some 34 out of 35 cases the’ve brought, that doesn’t mean the path is entirely clear for Joe Biden to ascend to the presidency. Not yet, anyway.

As Cenk explains in this YouTube Live video recorded Sunday, we face a genuine constitutional crisis, not from court decisions, but from Republican legislators in swing states bending to Trump’s will and sending Trump electors to the Electoral College despite Biden winning more votes in those states. In the video Cenk details the steps that led us to this place, the wishy-washy response from the legislators involved about what they plan to do, and the names of the few Republican politicians like Senators Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski, Pat Toomey and Congressman Fred Upton who have acknowledged the bold-faced truth that Joe Biden won the presidential election.

Cenk reserves nothing but scorn for the Democrats, however, who he says are barely visible in this fight and providing nearly zero pushback as Trump’s lawyers seek to persuade the public that Biden, in cahoots with Bernie Sanders, the late Hugo Chavez and Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State have stolen the election. Cenk even offers rare credit to media personalities Jake Tapper, George Stephanopoulos and Chuck Todd for not “both sides-ing” this story and for calling it what it is: an assault on the nation, on democracy, and a clownish coup.
