Incredible as it may seem, Democrats are poised to take control of the White House and both houses of Congress for the first time in a decade now that Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff have, implausibly enough, emerged victorious in the two Georgia Senate runoff races. With the Senate split evenly between Republicans and Democrats, Vice President Kamala Harris, in her role as President of the Senate, will represent the tie-breaking vote, handing control of the chamber to Chuck Schumer and the Democrats.

In this YouTube Live video recorded last night, Cenk is exultant over the underdog Democratic victory, and can’t help taking a few jabs at “President Dumb Dumb” (that’s Trump) for the key role he played in the GOP losing Georgia while the TYT host also luxuriates in an imagined bath of MAGA tears. Casting his gaze forward, however, he insists that the Democrats’ old ways of dealing with being in power — paying lip service to progressive priorities while making backdoor deals with Republicans on tax cuts for the wealthy and other corporate-friendly policies — are over, and the mainstream media and establishment figures in the Democratic Party are in for a rude awakening when their BS and obfuscation is no longer tolerated by the progressives, people of color and young people who drove this victory.

Those clashes are coming, he says, and they’re going to be ugly and bitter, but the progressive wing of the party will win, and the first win will be on a $15 minimum wage. The old guard will try to water down the bill, he predicts, but it won’t work. “Hear me now, quote me later, we’re going to win on the minimum wage,” he says.
