Embattled Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz's legal troubles might have just gotten worse as the indicted Florida public official who put federal investigators on the trail of Gaetz is negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors.

Speaking to members of the media after the hearing, Joel Greenberg's attorney Fritz Scheller was asked whether "Gaetz had anything to be worried about" and it is 30 seconds of pure nectar.

"I'm sure Matt Gaetz is not feeling very comfortable today," Scheller said.

"Joel Greenberg was a tax collector in the state of Florida. He was being investigated by the DOJ and in the process of that investigation the Justice Department expanded the investigation into Matt Gaetz because they came across something that indicated that he had paid for travel of a minor in order to have a sexual relationship with her," explained Ana Kasparian.

"Greenberg is cooperating with the feds and he is expected to take a plea deal very soon. So if he has any dirt on Matt Gaetz, that will be disclosed to federal prosecutors," she added.

One other negative sign for Matt Gaetz is that the relationship between the defense attorney and the prosecutors appears to be pretty “chummy,” according to Politico.

Gaetz has vehemently denied all accusations that he did anything illegal.

"Matt Gaetz is in a world of trouble and he knows all this. That's why he asked Trump for a preemptive pardon before he left office," said Cenk Uygur.

Though Greenberg did not back up Gaetz, some female aides from Gaetz's office are coming to the Congressman's defense as he faces a DOJ investigation over allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a minor and violations of sex trafficking laws.

"Gaetz has always been a principled and morally grounded leader. At no time has any one of us experienced or witnessed anything less than the utmost professionalism and respect. No hint of impropriety. No ounce of untruthfulness," the statement reads.

However, as the Hill reports, "the statement was not signed by any staffers, and it did not specify how many women in Gaetz's office had signed off on it. It was signed by 'the women of the office of U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz.'

"That's like some PR version of mansplaining I have never heard before. ‘The women of my office really like me, I mean none of them will say it on the record.’" said Ugyur.

"We used to make fun of QAnon. I mean, the idea of the top leaders of a political party in America would be child sex traffickers. Now all of a sudden we have Matt Gaetz, we have Trump defending Ghislane Maxwell. Thinking about defending Matt Gaetz. Maybe they just got the wrong party," he concluded.
