The Young Turks: September 09, 2014

Ana joins Cenk for SCS.  The phenomenon of Sugar Babies is discussed. A trailer of the documentary, Daddies Date Babies, depicts some of the women that participate in the exchange of being paid to be a kept woman to wealthy men. The AP has obtained an even longer version of the Ray Rice attack on his wife, but can’t release it. Janay Palmer took to Instagram to go after the media for bringing up the new video, which led to her husband losing his job. Although Fox’s Andrea Tantaros was upset that President Obama isn’t out in front on the Rice story, the White House did in fact release a statement on the story. The man that started the subReddit, “The Fappening,” is upset that some media outlets have revealed his Reddit handle. Even though his full identity wasn’t revealed, the Washington Post exposed all of the pathetic things in his life. Wendy Davis’ interview with GMA included her revelation about the abortion she had, and why she had to have it. She also discussed her Mother's mental health issues following a divorce. Opponents claim that she’s making it up. Cenk hosting. Scott Brown was being introduced at a New Hampshire rally by Chris Sununu, with hopes of convincing the people of the state will forget he’s actually from Massachusetts. Video of Sununu calling Brown phony over and over again while trying to hype up the small crowd is shown. New reports about the situation with ISIS, and the latest consequences of bombing them. Reuters investigated and found that although many members of the terror group have been run out of towns, the Shi’ite militia have begun cutting off Sunni heads, the way Sunni members of ISIS were previously doing. In addition, Kurds are not happy with Sunnis that have joined ISIS living nearby, and they feel that they have to go.  End the end, the Shi’ite IS has taken up where the first ISIS left off. Cenk talks about the only chance we had to potentially peacefully divide the country between the three groups. The Special Operations portion of our military has been privatized, spending $13 billion worth of contracts over 5 years, to 3000 companies. 8 of those companies received over 50% of this jackpot. Republican Rep Jack Kingston told the NY Times that his Party is in an advantageous position regarding Obama’s plan for dealing with ISIS.  He admitted that they can simply denounce the plan if it goes badly, or praise it if it goes well, and complain that he took too long to do anything.  Cenk points out that this bit of uncommon honesty comes from Kingston because he is in his last term since he lost his reelection bid. Cenk predicts that Kingston will retire and become a very well paid lobbyist. A new report out shows that CO2 rates are moving at a higher rate than ever before.  With the world literally on fire, we’ve been distracted with our government taking part in ramping up wars around the world, stoking fear here at home.  The top 10 most wealthy members of Congress have a total of $1.8 billion, with Darrell Issa leading the way. After pledging to do something about immigration reform, President Obama announced that they will wait until after the midterm elections to do anything, but before the end of the year.  They did this in fear of Conservatives having another reason to turn out against Democrats in the upcoming elections without realizing they’re alienating the people that helped get him into the White House.  After the announcement, Republicans quickly found a way to attack Obama for the decision to delay immigration reform. A Pew poll showed that 69% of Americans believe young immigrants should be allowed to live with their families while their cases are being reviewed. Update on the TYT Progressive Petition to find out who the audience thinks should run against Hillary in the Democratic primary for President.
