Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks was caught on tape saying that chairmanships to Congress’s most important committees cost around $1 million per position and are paid for by political special interest groups. Not only are these special interest groups bankrolling congressional committee appointments, but they’re doing so under a quid pro quo agreement with the member they’re propping up to support legislation favorable to the group.
