I understand the policy threats to our working-class way of life. I am tired of the working-class winding up with the dog's dinner while the top 1% have made 21 trillion, the same as our national debt, since 1989, while our wages have stagnated since 1978." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Amy Klobuchar & Pete Buttigieg are desperate for Spanish-speaking voters. Amy tells Spanish speakers to call her Elena. John Iadarola and Jayar Jackson break it down on The Damage Report. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) met with Culinary Union members in Las Vegas, Nevada Tuesday night during the CNN town hall for her opponents. The Culinary Union is made up of the over 60,000 hotel housekeepers, bartenders, restaurant and casino workers, and others who make up the backbone of the entire city. Many members are Spanish-speaking and people of color, yet it was still puzzling why Klobuchar began her speech with a bizarre anecdote. According to Culinary members and reporters present, she began by saying, “My name is Amy, but when I was in fourth grade Spanish they gave me the name Elena.” Sometimes in foreign language classes, students will take on a name that is from the culture of the language they are learning. But saying it as an opener to a political conversation to relate to Spanish-speaking people was something that took some by surprise." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

In the clip, which was recorded at an event at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England, on Dec. 8, 2016, Bloomberg discusses the challenge of appealing to people on the opposite side of a political divide, in this case, Brexit. Bloomberg said the division between people like him and attendees at the Oxford event, whom he described as "the intelligentsia" and "the vast bulk of people," was a divergence over "equality and protecting individual rights that make no sense to the vast bulk of people." "They are not opposed to you having some rights, but there's a fundamental disconnect between us believing the rights of the individual come first and the general belief around the world, I think it's fair to say, that the rights of society comes first," Bloomberg continued." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

But it might be good enough. The Minnesota senator was stumped last week when asked by Telemundo if she could name the president of Mexico. “No,” she said. Prompted with the same question, billionaire environmentalist Tom Steyer said, “I forget.” Only Pete Buttigieg was able to name him. Given a do-over Tuesday at a CNN town hall in Las Vegas, Klobuchar sought to redeem herself. She gave her greetings to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador — she incorrectly pronounced his first name as “Andre,” but the Las Vegas crowd nevertheless cheered and applauded her effort. Buttigieg seized on Klobuchar’s gaffe Sunday, telling supporters in Nevada “that there is more to being prepared than how many years you spent in Washington.” Klobuchar told CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Tuesday that she had been in the Senate “all day” on the day she did the interview. She noted the chamber held six votes that day, including a resolution to limit President Donald Trump’s authority to attack Iran without congressional approval, and that her flight landed in Nevada “at midnight my time,” then she “had a fast interview and then did two forums after that,” not wrapping up her day until 2 a.m. or 3 a.m." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Presidential candidates are required to reveal their investments, businesses and streams of income. Bloomberg, the former New York City mayor, is the only Democrat seeking the White House who has yet to file paperwork to publicly disclose his. And under an extension granted to him Friday by the Federal Election Commission — the second such one Bloomberg has received — he can postpone their release until March 20. The timing is significant because Bloomberg has skipped campaigning in early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire and is instead staking his bid on a big showing in contests that come later, like Super Tuesday on March 3. By getting approval to delay the release of his finances until after those pivotal contests, he is denying voters information about how much he is worth — and how he invests his money." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

In response to a “homophobic comment” made by conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh about 2020 Democratic candidate Pete Buttigieg, Tarlov said, “It’s really interesting to me as someone who is an open advocate, obviously, for same-sex marriage which is now the law of the land, thankfully.” “You see a loving, monogamous couple like Pete Buttigieg and Chasten his husband up there showing what is possible. That someone who is in a same-sex relationship could be running for president and doing as well,” she said. “And then they’re torn down by Rush Limbaugh, who’s been married four times I think.” “We have Donald Trump, three times married, cheated on all of those wives,” she continued, as America’s Newsroom co-anchor Sandra Smith interrupted, “Let’s not bring in personal relationships.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

The Wednesday night vote was 220-210. Democrats reintroduced the bill in January, after passing it in 2019, banking on the party's narrow majority in the Senate to get it passed through both chambers this cycle. The bill seeks to "to expand Americans' access to the ballot box, reduce the influence of big money in politics, strengthen ethics rules for public servants, and implement other anti-corruption measures for the purpose of fortifying our democracy, and for other purposes."" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

"I don't understand the political or economic wisdom in allowing Trump to give more people relief checks than a Democratic administration. People went far too long without relief last year," the New York Democrat told the Washington Post's Jeff Stein. "If anything we should be more generous, not more stingy.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Todd Piro and Ashley Strohmier interviewed Cawthorn on Fox & Friends First, where the topics ranged from election laws to the Biden Administration’s border policy. The interview turned to the lighter side, however, when Piro asked Cawthorn to react to President Joe Biden omitting Seuss from his proclamation for Read Across America Day." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks
