Police officers in Alabama share a disgusting Christmas greeting. John Iadarola breaks it down on The Damage Report. The post shows the two officers holding up a so-called “quilt” of cardboard signs apparently confiscated from homeless people in the city. The accompanying text says: “Wanna wish everybody in the 4th precinct a Merry Christmas, especially our captain. Hope you enjoy our homeless quilt. Sincerely Panhandler patrol.” The two officers, Preston McGraw and Alexandre Olivier, are recent graduates of the Mobile Police Academy. McGraw graduated in February of 2018 and Olivier in January of 2019. Two other people are also tagged in the image but it’s not clear who they are. The photo appears to have been taken inside a Mobile Police Department office." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

2020 Census projects shift in states' congressional power. John Iadarola breaks it down on The Damage Report. Follow The Damage Report on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDamageReportTYT/ Help build the Home of the Progressives http://tyt.com/JOIN Subscribe to The Damage Report YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/thedamagereport?sub_confirmation=1 Follow The Damage Report on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDamageReport Read more here: https://www.axios.com/census-data-congressional-seats-red-states-3929c226-ae93-4269-a36a-dc4872e5bcb7.html "California is projected to lose a congressional seat for the first time next year, while states President Trump won such as Texas and Florida will likely gain seats, according to an analysis of new Census data by the Brookings Institution's William Frey. Why it matters: It only takes a handful of seats to shift a party's power in Congress for a decade. The new data underscores the need for an accurate 2020 Census count, especially with changing demographics in states with booming populations such as Florida, Texas and Arizona. By the numbers: If the rate of population change from July 2018 to July 2019 holds into the next year... * Blue states including New York, Illinois, Rhode Island and California are projected to each lose a seat. * Red states such as Texas, Arizona, Montana, Florida and North Carolina are projected to gain. What to watch: Demographics are shifting in states like Florida, Texas and Arizona, which have seen an influx of Latinos who tend to skew more Democratic and are more likely to be undercounted by the census, Frey said. Texas has slowly been turning blue, and Florida has been tightly contested for years. * Three key swing states that voted for Trump in 2016 — Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania — are each projected to lose a congressional seat. * Redistricting will play a crucial role in determining how much a political party benefits from congressional reapportionment. It will have a significant impact on elections in the next decade. The big picture: The changes come as total population growth in the U.S. reaches its lowest point since 1918 at just 0.48%.” #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

A secret organization called ‘The Family’ pulls congressional strings, hosting the National Prayer Breakfast. John Iadarola and Jonathan Larsen break it down on The Damage Report. Follow The Damage Report on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDamageReportTYT/ Help build the Home of the Progressives http://tyt.com/JOIN Subscribe to The Damage Report YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/thedamagereport?sub_confirmation=1 Follow The Damage Report on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDamageReport Read more here: https://tyt.com/stories/4vZLCHuQrYE4uKagy0oyMA/UHYZXMUhGKUEsMAYcuQes "A Christian charity with ties to the National Prayer Breakfast reported unspecified expenses associated with having Russian guests attend the event in 2017 and possibly other years, federal tax documents show. The guests may have included people picked by convicted Russian agent Maria Butina as part of a plan to create back-channel connections with U.S. policy-makers, many of whom attend the breakfast. One leader of the charity appears to match details the FBI has given about an unnamed breakfast organizer who aided Butina. In her plea agreement, Butina admitted to acting as an agent of the Russian government without registering with the Justice Department. The FBI says that Butina and her handler — widely reported to be Alexander Torshin, a Russian official said to be close to President Vladimir Putin — attended the breakfast to influence U.S politics. The tax records reviewed by TYT represent the first indication they may have received direct financial support in their efforts. “[I]n furtherance of the conspiracy,” Butina’s plea deal says, “Butina helped [Torshin] organize a Russian delegation to the 2017 National Prayer Breakfast… [Torshin] directed Butina to include certain people.” Butina wrote in 2015 that the best way to influence U.S. policy toward Russia was not through official channels. “As an alternative,” her plea deal says, “Butina suggested that Russia could use unofficial channels of communication to the same end.” The National Prayer Breakfast, an annual ritual for Washington’s elite, was targeted by the two Russians to build those channels, according to the FBI. For decades the event has drawn every president from each party, as well as top members of Congress. In 2003, then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) called the breakfast’s patriarch, Doug Coe, “a genuinely loving spiritual mentor and guide to anyone, regardless of party or faith.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Here are Netflix’s Top 10 shows & movies of 2019. John Iadarola and Brett Erlich break it down on The Damage Report. On top of Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, the newly launched Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus, WarnerMedia will launch HBO Max, NBC Universal will debut Peacock, and newcomers like Quibi will burst on to mobile devices with dreams of luring people away from traditional media. There will be original shows, original movies, and original interactives on nearly every platform. Network, cable, and theatrical distribution will still exist, flooding each platform with even more content. If self-reported, end-of-2019 numbers are any indication, the people behind Netflix aren’t worried about the swell of competition. Those who subscribe to Netflix seem to spend plenty of time watching Netflix content — original and licensed. Based on data provided to Polygon by Netflix, here are the 10 most popular shows and movies that premiered on the platform in 2019: 1. Murder Mystery (full review) 2. Stranger Things 3 (full review) 3. 6 Underground (full review) 4. The Incredibles 2 5. The Irishman (full review) 6. The Witcher (full review) 7. Triple Frontier (full review) 8. 2020 Census unearths a fundamental flaw in census questioning. John Iadarola breaks it down on The Damage Report. That's among the Census Bureau's final conclusions from its recent experiment testing public reaction to the question. If courts had not blocked the question from appearing on census forms, it would have also likely lowered self-response rates in parts of the U.S. where Asian residents make up between 5% and 20% of the population, according to the Census Bureau's final report on the national experiment conducted earlier this year. The findings released on Monday flesh out preliminary analysis the bureau put out in October when officials announced the question likely would not have had a significant effect on overall self-response rates. Digging deeper into specific groups, however, the bureau did find statistically significant differences between certain households asked to fill out a test census form with a citizenship question and those presented with forms without one. "These differences were small," wrote Victoria Velkoff, the bureau's associate director for demographic programs, in a blog post about the bureau's early findings." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Among the most immediate steps is rejoining the Paris agreement, the nonbinding international pact signed in 2015 to prevent the most severe consequences of climate change. By reentering the agreement, Biden is recommitting the US to drastically reducing emissions in order to limit average global temperature rise to below 2 degrees Celsius. In 2017, then-President Trump stunned the world when he announced the US would withdraw from the agreement his predecessors in the Obama administration had worked so hard to forge. By rejecting it, Trump also tested other countries’ resolve to fight climate change without the participation of the largest historical emitter. Now, with Biden’s pen stroke, the US will rejoin the agreement after the procedural 30-day wait." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

His presidency is beginning with an aggressive first 10 days in the Oval Office with a suite of executive orders and actions. The promised actions span from the substantive to more symbolic. Some repeal key parts of former President Donald Trump’s agenda; others lay the groundwork for some of Biden’s own progressive promises." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that Trump has discussed the matter with associates in the last week, suggesting he would call it the "Patriot Party." According to the Journal, it's unclear how serious the outgoing president is about starting a new party. The outlet noted that Trump's wide base of supporters was not heavily involved in the Republican Party before Trump became the party's 2016 presidential nominee." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks
