Giuliani Ordered To Give Up MAJOR Assets To Election Workers

Former Trump advisor Rudy Giuliani has been ordered to give up assets to the Georgia election workers he defamed.

So, mayor. Mayor. It does. It does get to the ultimate issue. It's ridiculous to have a jury trial in the District of Columbia. 106 people have had jury trials. Not a single person has been acquitted. That's ridiculous. That. [00:00:15] Well, I mean, that's the jurisdiction, you know, that's the jurisdiction that that the crime happened. I mean, where do you want them to hold it in Alabama? The jury. There really are not juries of your peers, the juries who have made up their minds before they walk into the court. Okay. But now. Okay. But now they hear Giuliani say $145 million. [00:00:34] These women shouldn't get $145 million. That's ridiculous. Yeah. The penalty for defaming two election workers wasn't $145 million. It was $148 million. And he's still liable to pay that. You just watched Rudy Giuliani attempt to defend himself while we were interviewing [00:00:52] him at the Republican National Convention. Now, a federal judge in New York City has essentially ordered Giuliani to hand over control over a multitude of his assets It's in order to pay these defamed election workers in Georgia. [00:01:09] And this comes months after the former New York mayor was ordered to pay the election workers $148 million for defaming them for alleged ballot tampering. Obviously, that ballot tampering never happened. That was the defamation. [00:01:25] So as a reminder, he was found liable of defamation as it pertained to two women, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. He was found guilty after failing to respond to parts of their lawsuit. Then in December, a federal jury ordered Giuliani to pay [00:01:41] $150 million about or nearly $150 million for his lies about Freeman and Moss, and the pair have been working ever since. To collect the money, he was ordered to pay $16,171,000 to Freeman for defamation. [00:01:58] Nearly 17 million to Moss for defamation, $20 million to each woman for emotional distress and $75 million total in punitive damages. So he says I can't afford it. Now a judge is saying, well, you're going to have to hand over your assets, [00:02:15] including your apartment in Manhattan that's valued to be around $6 million. There's more to the story, but I wanted to give you a chance to jump in, Jake. So the part of the story. That I love is that finally, there are consequences for lying. So some of us try super hard to give you [00:02:34] the actual facts no matter what, right? Meanwhile, in right wing media, just one lie after another. Who cares? Yeah. Hugo Chavez stole the election in 2020. He's been dead for seven years at that point. It doesn't matter. I'm just making things up. [00:02:50] Oh, I saw somebody moving ballot boxes. Yeah, to count them. It doesn't matter. They're mules. There's a bunch of mules and krakens. We're just gonna make everything up. We're just gonna lie, lie, lie. Oh, those two innocent people who were good people who were trying to help, who went and worked at a at a voting station, as good, patriotic Americans. [00:03:10] I'll just smear them. I'll pretend that they're part of a plot to undermine democracy. I'll make everybody super mad at them. Yeah. Direct hatred toward them. Harassment towards them. Death threats toward them. Yeah. Make their lives a living hell by just simply out of nowhere, [00:03:27] making up a BS lie about these two women. Okay. Making their lives a complete and utter living hell. And then whining about how you can't pay for the defamation that you were found guilty of. Yeah. So. So two things. Number one, now, finally, there are consequences to your lies. [00:03:44] So cry me a river and pay up. Okay. And so now when you go to pay up, these sons of bitches never pay, right? Alex Jones. Oh, I hide the money here. I gave it to my dad. I don't have anything. Or I gave it to somebody else I. Hide, hide, hide. Send it to other countries, etc.. [00:04:00] Meanwhile. And they and these courts, I get it. It's a bureaucracy and it's tough. But they let them just hide almost all the money before anybody ever gets any of the money. Right? Exactly. So in this case, Rudy was like, oh golly gee, I just don't know how to sell my $6 million apartment in New York. [00:04:17] I can't. I'm trying so hard, I just cannot sell it. And and all my expensive watches. I am trying to sell them, and I cannot. And of course, you're like, oh, okay, no problem. They'll sell them. Now. You don't have to because it's their property. - Please vacate the premises. - Yeah, that's that's exactly. [00:04:33] Problem solved. Thank you. Judge. - So finally figured it out. - So he'll have to give up that asset. But there's more. So let's go to graphic three here. Giuliani must also turn over a collection of several watches, including ones given to him by European presidents after the September 11th, [00:04:49] 2001 attacks, a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey and other sports memorabilia, and a 1980 Mercedes once owned by the Hollywood star Lauren Bacall. Additionally, the judge ordered that Giuliani turn over his his television [00:05:07] items of furniture and jewelry. They're wiping, wiping them out. Yeah, because that's what happens when you owe $148 $48 million because rich people who believe they're above the law think, oh yeah, I could do that. But even if I get a judgment, so what? I'll say, oh, that's my primary residence. [00:05:25] Oh, I can't sell my watches. Oh, I need a deluxe car owned by a Hollywood star at one point. No, you don't need any of that. No, you owe the money, and you're not above the law. So that property is now theirs. And sad day for you. [00:05:42] Maybe you should have thought of that before you smear the crap out of them and put them in danger. All right. There are a few other items that are of value that could be brought up in this case. So, for instance, there's his condo in Palm Beach. [00:05:59] He also has four New York Yankees World Series rings. So I don't know what's going to happen with those items. But look, the point is, don't defame people and don't make their lives a living hell for your political project. These are human beings, much like the victims of the Sandy hook [00:06:15] shooting who were defamed by Alex Jones. You know, this is not fun. And games. These are human beings who have real lives and messing with their lives like this is unacceptable. And I'm glad that there are consequences for it. Okay. Last thing. So we did that interview with him at the RNC, and it was a friendly interview [00:06:33] because we asked questions and we match the tenor of the guest. Right. But what did we get out of that interview? We got some really important information. So first of all, he talked about this case. And I remember thinking, I wonder if the lawyers are going to use this because he's admitting some interesting things in this interview. Right. [00:06:48] So then the second thing we found out is we asked them, hey, why didn't you use Trump's real electors when you were doing your elector plot? And he said some of them wouldn't go along with it. Oh, so you said Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss were helping to steal [00:07:07] the election when you knew that was a lie and it would endanger those women, when in reality you were trying to steal the election with fake electors, because even Trump's real electors said, that's illegal and I won't break the law and overturn the election. [00:07:23] So if you're a person who doesn't care about the truth at all, and you don't care about our democracy at all, and you try to steal an election and then blame the other side for it, you'll excuse me if I don't shed a tear about your World Series rings and your [00:07:40] luxury cars and your luxury apartments. Am I supposed to feel bad for you? I don't. The only person I feel bad for in this story is Lauren Bacall. May her soul rest in peace, even though I'm not religious. She's a beautiful actress, and her Mercedes Benz should not [00:07:56] have ended up with Rudy Giuliani. Thanks for watching The Young Turks really appreciate it.
