"Senator Edward J. Markey and Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III unleashed their sharpest attacks against one another in an intense debate Monday night, each characterizing the other as ineffective, as the opponents clamor for attention amid national turmoil that has pushed their race to the back of most voters’ minds.
An animated Markey — who sidestepped almost every opportunity to criticize Kennedy at last week’s debate — repeatedly assailed his 39-year-old challenger as not progressive enough to represent Massachusetts in the US Senate. He slammed Kennedy for working for “right wing” Republican District Attorney Michael O’Keefe on Cape Cod after law school, for being slow to embrace Medicare for All, and for failing to mention climate change when he delivered the Democratic response to President Trump’s State of the Union address in 2018."

Trump attacks an innocent 75-year-old man in critical condition after being shoved by police. John Iadarola and Jordan Uhl break it down on The Damage Report. An elderly man approaches a police line in Buffalo, New York. He is pushed backward by police, stumbles and falls, hitting his head on the pavement. Blood immediately begins to pour from his ear. None of the officers stop to help him. In a country on high alert for incidents of unnecessary use of force by police against those protesting in the wake of the death of George Floyd, the video sparked outrage. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the episode "wholly unjustified and utterly disgraceful." The two officers involved in the incident were suspended. But on Tuesday morning, the President of the United States suggested -- without offering a shred of evidence -- that the entire episode was the result of a broad scam involving Antifa, a protest organization "whose political beliefs lean toward the left -- often the far left -- but do not conform with the Democratic Party platform." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

But even when juxtaposed against demonstrations marred by violence, there's a strong contingent of mostly right-wing critics that insist the peaceful protesters are still doing it wrong. That's probably because it's not actually the method of protest to which they object, it's the ideas behind those protests. No method of peaceful protest is sufficiently respectful enough of their feelings. Kneeling is problematic to the right Richmond, Virginia police officers fired tear gas at a group of peaceful protesters with their hands up, most of them kneeling. (Richmond Police Chief William Smith apologized for the incident, which he called "unwarranted" and "outside dept protocols and directions given," and said the officers would be disciplined.)" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Trump’s reelection campaign is collapsing. Staffers drop large dollars just to make Trump feel better about himself. John Iadarola and Jordan Uhl break it down on The Damage Report. They’d run a series of hard-hitting ads and place them on networks that they knew the president and congressional Republicans would watch. And so, over the past month, the Trump campaign has spent slightly more than $400,000 on cable news ads in the Washington, D.C., area, buying time largely on Fox News but with some smaller buys on CNN and MSNBC as well, according to filings with the Federal Communications Commission. The ads began running in late May and are scheduled through June 23. It is, on a purely electoral level, a remarkably quixotic use of campaign cash. The purchases have no real shot of moving D.C., Maryland, or Virginia into the Trump column. But that wasn’t the point. The Trump campaign said the ad buys were an attempt to reinvigorate and reassure the president’s supporters in the nation’s capital. “We want members of Congress and our DC-based surrogates to see the ads so they know our strong arguments for President Trump and against Joe Biden,” wrote Tim Murtaugh, the campaign’s communications director, in an email on Monday." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

If Democratic leaders cared about saving the lives of Black people, and they should, they wouldn't ignore the murder of thousands of young Black men in their cities every year. They wouldn't put abortion clinics in Black neighborhoods. They would, instead, do their very best to improve the public schools and to encourage intact families which we know beyond a shadow of a doubt is central to the life prospects of children. They'd try to make Black neighborhoods as safe as their own neighborhoods. They would close the payday lenders that add so much misery to the lives of poor people of all colors. But they don't even consider doing any of this, they don't even try. Instead, they encourage theft and mayhem as if that will help. It will not help. " #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

With the odds against him, his family was strong enough to insist on finding education through curiosity. His sister is an award winning educator. She Co-Founded the Keith Institute, but she used to be annoying 😘 . His mom is a union steward at SEIU Local 517. His dad is a financial planner. They unknowingly taught James and his sister the value of a dollar by giving them an allowance for school grades with outdated check books. They had to write and balance checks for things they thought they'd like to buy with the allowances that they earned. James' parents were just looking for a way to stop the constant ask for things. He says that he considered himself an entrepreneur, before he was familiar with the word. His mother tells a story of his suspension from school for selling Now And Later candy to his classmates in the 1st grade. The Detroit Public School's principal at McKinney Elementary told her that James would be a drug dealer. It turns out that he was only selling candy to make new friends to fight a bully from the orphanage next door. And so they did. JFK has been straddling the fence of entrepreneurship and politics for the 30 years since... And beating up bullies has become a sort of pastime." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

It was widely reported that on 29 May Mr Trump went down to the emergency bunker, which was created to keep the president safe, with his wife Melania and son Barron, when protesters loudly demonstrated outside the White House. Mr Trump and his family were reportedly down in the bunker for around an hour, according to sources who spoke to CNN, in what the president claimed was a bunker inspection. However, speaking to Bret Baier of Fox News on Monday, Mr Barr contradicted the president’s claim and confirmed that Mr Trump went down to the bunker because the Secret Service recommended it." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks
