The talks are aimed at finalizing guidelines for implementing the 2015 Paris Agreement, which called for measures to prevent global temperatures from rising more than 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit and mitigate the consequences of climate change. Thunberg, addressing the conference hours before she was named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2019, criticized the targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and declarations of climate emergencies for falling short of real, substantial action. "This is not leading. This is misleading," Thunberg, 16, said. "Only setting up distant dates and saying things which give the impression that action is underway will most likely do more harm than good.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

My mom’s the oldest of nine kids from a farm-working family in Southern Mexico, and my dad’s an entrepreneur from Ohio. They raised me to be a proud Irish Mexican American and I grew up being a part of two very different worlds. That experience taught me that at the end of the day, even if we look different, speak different languages, or come from different communities, we all want the same things – for our families to be safe, healthy, and treated with respect. After I graduated from UT Austin, I co-founded the Workers Defense Project and successfully took on some of the most powerful corporations in the state to ensure that hard-working families have good, safe jobs. In the wake of the 2016 election, while I was six months pregnant with my first child, I decided to launch an organization called Jolt to channel the energy of young Latinos by registering and mobilizing them to vote. Together at Jolt, we led campaigns to protect immigrant families, and make college affordable for thousands of Texas students. All throughout my life, I’ve worked hard to fix things that are unfair, to make things right, and to advocate for the interests of all Texans. Now, I’m launching my campaign for U.S. Senate because I want to create a government that truly represents us and solves our state and nation’s biggest problems." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

"Get her out. Get her out," Trump demanded as his supporters pointed and yelled at the demonstrator, who was wearing a #MeToo hat and holding a sign that read, "Grabbing Power Back." "See, these guys want to be so politically correct," Trump said of the security guard attempting to escort the demonstrator out of the arena. "You see that? I'll tell you, law enforcement's so great. That particular guy wanted to be so politically correct." Trump, who has a long history of urging his supporters and law enforcement to attack protesters, went on to mock the security guard for not putting his hands on the woman." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

The money will go to a group of charities, and the foundation is in the process of dissolving. The case is tied to a televised fundraiser for veterans held by Trump in Iowa when he was running for president in January 2016. Trump had said the funds raised would be distributed to charities. But according to court documents, the Trump Foundation improperly used $2.82 million it received from that fundraiser. According to the judgment, that money "was used for Mr. Trump's political campaign and disbursed by Mr. Trump's campaign staff, rather than by the Foundation," which is unlawful. However, Justice Saliann Scarpulla says the funds did eventually reach charity organizations supporting veterans. "The Trump Foundation has shut down, funds that were illegally misused are being restored, the president will be subject to ongoing supervision by my office, and the Trump children had to undergo compulsory training to ensure this type of illegal activity never takes place again," New York Attorney General Letitia James, whose office filed the case, said in a statement. "The court's decision, together with the settlements we negotiated, are a major victory in our efforts to protect charitable assets and hold accountable those who would abuse charities for personal gain.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

"The documents show a Veolia executive, a month before the corporation told the city its water was safe, saying that 'lead seems to be a problem.'" —Alissa Weinman, Corporate Accountability The emails, obtained by the watchdog group Corporate Accountability, came to light through a lawsuit filed in the Genesee County Circuit Court by the Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat who took office in January. The state's suit accused the company, Veolia, of "professional negligence, negligence, public nuisance, unjust enrichment, and fraud." Last month a state judge threw out all but the unjust enrichment claim. Corporate Accountability spokesperson Alissa Weinman told the newspapers that Veolia's actions related to Flint were "despicable." "The documents show a Veolia executive, a month before the corporation told the city its water was safe, saying that 'lead seems to be a problem,'" Weinman said. Over the course of a more than 90-minute delivery, Trump pushed conspiracy theories and blatant lies, trashed law enforcement officials that aren’t blindly loyal to him, exhibited thuggish tendencies toward protesters, made misogynistic remarks, and demonstrated that he fundamentally misunderstands the Constitution. It was one of his most troubling performances in recent memory and served as a stark illustration of just how ugly Trump’s reelection campaign will be. “That’s what I heard. I don’t know if it’s true.” As the president, Trump has access to information and briefings from some of the world’s top intelligence professionals. Horowitz also reported that there was no evidence of political bias at the root of the investigation — rebuffing President Donald Trump’s repeated claims about a concerted effort to undermine his campaign being led by “deep state” Washington bureaucrats. “We did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that political bias or improper motivation influenced the FBI’s decision” to seek surveillance warrants on Page, Horowitz’s report concludes. And that’s before you get to the always distractible TV categories! In the movie categories, the as-yet-unreleased Dick Cheney biopic Vice leads the comedy or musical film categories with six nominations, followed by The Favourite and Green Book, both of which received five. Both BlacKkKlansman and A Star Is Born (competing as a drama, despite its musical elements) lead the drama categories with five nominations apiece. There is also recognition for two of the year’s biggest Hollywood success stories. Black Panther, the first solo superhero film with a black star in Marvel’s current cinematic universe, earned a Best Picture nomination in the drama category, and Crazy Rich Asians, the first major studio film since The Joy Luck Club to feature a predominantly Asian and Asian-American cast, earned a Best Picture nomination in the comedy or musical category. In the television categories, FX’s The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story leads the overall pack with four nominations, including Best TV Limited Series. Seven shows — FX’s The Americans, HBO’s Barry, Amazon’s Homecoming, Netflix’s The Kominsky Method, Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, HBO’s Sharp Objects, and Amazon’s A Very English Scandal — received three nominations each to tie for second-most-nominated program." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

In doing so, Democrats said, Trump betrayed the country and his oath of office, engaged in a “cover up” of his own alleged misconduct, and “ignored and injured the interests of the nation.” The announcement comes ahead of the Judiciary Committee’s plans to approve the articles later this week — on Thursday, according to multiple Democrats — with a full House vote expected next week." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

But on Friday, as part of his eight-day No Malarkey tour of Iowa, the former vice-president expressed an unexpected 2020 anxiety. Describing his plan to “work things out” with Senator Lindsey Graham to pass legislation if elected, Biden shared his worry that the Republican Party could suffer too great a loss in 2020, wondering what would happen if the GOP got “clobbered” in November and Democrats were able to genuinely wield power for the first time in a decade. “I’m really worried that no party should have too much power,” he told a crowd in Decorah, according to BuzzFeed News. “You need a countervailing force.” That idea is a hallmark of independent voters splitting their ticket in pursuit of so-called checks and balances on the party in power. But as New York’s Ed Kilgore notes, that impulse can “produce the very abuses of power they claim to fear.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Limits contributions to “independent expenditure” political committees, thereby ending super PACs in city elections 3. Expands Seattle’s existing disclosure rules to require commercial advertisers to report information about political advertisements outside of the narrow context of an election campaign This ordinance builds on Free Speech For People’s work developing similar legislation in St. Petersburg, Florida (along with partners American Promise-Tampa Bay, League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area, and the Leif Nissen Foundation), which passed in November 2017, as well as proposed legislation in Massachusetts. Trump is the least popular president to run for re-election in the history of polling but Mulvaney thinks Americans will vote for him anyway because unemployment has hit a 50-year low, wages are rising and economic growth exceeds 3%. A CNN poll released in early May shows 56% of Americans approve Trump’s handling of the economy. This is making Democrats nervous. No president since the second world war has failed to be re-elected during a good economy. “What Democrats have to be most worried about is the economy,” says Democratic pollster Celinda Lake. It is possible, of course, that the economy will take a dive before election day, especially in light of Trump’s trade wars and the global economic slowdown. But it’s more likely that the recovery that began in 2009 will continue, even though Trump isn’t responsible for it." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Here’s what happened: During the House Judiciary Committee’s first impeachment hearing on Wednesday, one of the witnesses, Stanford University professor Pamela Karlan, made a reference to President Donald Trump’s 13-year-old son, Barron, in explaining the difference between the president and a king. “Contrary to what President Trump says, Article Two [of the Constitution] does not give him the power to do anything he wants,” Karlan said. “And I’ll just give you one example that shows you the difference between him and a king, which is the Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he cannot make him a baron.” The quip sparked some chuckles in the audience, but the situation quickly spun out of control. The White House and some Republicans cried foul at the use of Barron’s name, since he’s a child. It’s true that it is a norm to leave the president’s children out of partisan attacks, but this wasn’t really an attack. Karlan wasn’t making a dig at Barron Trump, she was just making a point about presidential powers. But here we are." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

As she began walking away from the podium, James Rosen, a former Fox News reporter who now works for the conservative Sinclair Broadcast Group, asked: “Do you hate the president?′ Pelosi, pointing a finger at Rosen, snapped back: “I don’t hate anybody.” “I was raised in a Catholic house. We don’t hate anyone, not anybody in the world,” Pelosi said. “So don’t you accuse me —” "I did not accuse you. I asked you a question,” Rosen responded. After the testy exchange with Rosen, Pelosi returned to the podium. “I think the president is a coward when it comes to helping our kids, who are afraid of gun violence. I think he is cruel when he doesn’t deal with helping our Dreamers, of which we’re very proud. I think he’s in denial about the climate crisis,” she began. “However, that’s about the election. This is about the — take it up in the election,” she said. The impeachment inquiry, however, “is about the Constitution of the United States and the facts that leads to the president’s violation of his oath of office,” Pelosi said." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

And it is the oldest candidate of all, Sen. Bernie Sanders, who placed highest in their scorecard, released Thursday. With a score of 91.5 percent, the independent senator from Vermont edged out his fellow New England progressive, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), who scored 82.5 percent. The activist group, the Sunrise Movement, has determined that while many aspects of their plans for tackling climate change once in office were similar, it is Sanders who most forcefully speaks out as a candidate about the urgency of addressing what many Democratic voters see as a generational crisis. “When we designed the scorecard, there wasn’t really anything like this out there,” said Evan Weber, Sunrise's political director. “We didn’t really have a sense of how people would rank.” The top-polling candidate nationally, Joe Biden, placed third in the scorecard with a tally of 37.5 percent as Sunrise’s committee of five scorers found the former vice president’s climate plan too vague in many ways to rank any higher." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

The survey by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies found that both Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts — the commanding front-runner in a September California poll — and former Vice President Joe Biden have lost ground among the state’s likely Democratic primary voters over the last two months. That erosion has benefited Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who narrowly tops the primary field, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., who doubled his support since the September poll. With less than two months before voting starts in Iowa’s Democratic caucuses and three months before California’s March 3 primary, “the race is really unusually fluid,” said Mark DiCamillo, director of the Berkeley IGS poll of voters likely to go to the polls in the Democratic primary. … Sanders is in the nominal lead, as the first-choice pick of 24%; Warren is the first pick of 22%. That is a big change from September, when she led the field with 29%." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

The video, captured at a Buckinham Palace reception Tuesday evening, appeared to show Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and others laughing about Trump’s freewheeling news conferences earlier in the day. “I just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor,” Trudeau told the others, dropping his hand toward the ground to dramatize his retelling. And so it was Wednesday morning that Trump presented a sulking, brooding president, as he slapped down Trudeau as “two-faced” and engaged with other foreign counterparts at a secluded estate here outside London. “Well, he’s two-faced,” Trump said of Trudeau. “And honestly, with Trudeau, he’s a nice guy. I find him to be a very nice guy. But, you know, the truth is that I called him out on the fact that he’s not paying 2 percent and I guess he’s not very happy about it.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Trump, the 45th President of the United States, uncovered a months-long effort by President Trump to use the powers of his office to solicit foreign interference on his behalf in the 2020 election. As described in this executive summary and the report that follows, President Trump’s scheme subverted U.S. foreign policy toward Ukraine and undermined our national security in favor of two politically motivated investigations that would help his presidential reelection campaign. The President demanded that the newly-elected Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, publicly announce investigations into a political rival that he apparently feared the most, former Vice President Joe Biden, and into a discredited theory that it was Ukraine, not Russia, that interfered in the 2016 presidential election. To compel the Ukrainian President to do his political bidding, President Trump conditioned two official acts on the public announcement of the investigations: a coveted White House visit and critical U.S. military assistance Ukraine needed to fight its Russian adversary. During a July 25, 2019, call between President Trump and President Zelensky, President Zelensky expressed gratitude for U.S. military assistance. President Trump immediately responded by asking President Zelensky to “do us a favor though” and openly pressed for Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Biden and the 2016 conspiracy theory. In turn, President Zelensky assured President Trump that he would pursue the investigation and reiterated his interest in the White House meeting. Although President Trump’s scheme intentionally bypassed many career personnel, it was undertaken with the knowledge and approval of senior Administration officials, including the President’s Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Secretary of Energy Rick Perry. In fact, at a press conference weeks after public revelations about the scheme, Mr. Mulvaney publicly acknowledged that the President directly tied the hold on military aid to his desire to get Ukraine to conduct a political investigation, telling Americans to “get over it.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

The industry’s top trade group, the U.S. Solar Industries Association (SEIA), said the lost investment equated to 10.5 gigawatts in missed solar energy installations, enough to power about 1.8 million homes. President Donald Trump imposed the four-year tariff program on imported panels in early 2018, starting at 30% and dropping by five percentage points each year. The SEIA report based its gloomy forecasts on that regime remaining unchanged, saying the industry will create 62,000 fewer jobs than it otherwise would have between 2017 and 2021. That’s more than the 53,000 workers employed in U.S. coal mining, an industry Trump has promised to revive." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Devin Nunes (R-CA) passed up few opportunities to bash the media in the recent impeachment hearings, and now he’s suing what he calls the “mother of fake news” — CNN. Nunes, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, filed a lawsuit against the network Tuesday, seeking damages of more than $435 million. He’s suing over a November 22 report that Lev Parnas, the indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani, was prepared to tell Congress that Nunes met with Victor Shokin, the former Ukrainian prosecutor, in Vienna last year to discuss “digging up dirt” on Joe Biden. Nunes says he never has met Shokin. He also denies that he took a trip to Vienna in December 2018 or that he communicated with Parnas. The CNN story is sourced to Parnas’s attorney, Joseph A. Bondy, who outlined what his client was willing to reveal. Nunes denied the claims at the time, but CNN said that he did not respond to them for comment. Instead, he told Breitbart.com that the claims were “demonstrably false.” CNN declined to comment on the lawsuit. In the lawsuit, Nunes’s attorneys wrote that “the ‘trusted’ source of CNN’s fake news story was a man indicted by the United States Government, charged with multiple Federal crimes – a man who faces years in a Federal penitentiary – Lev Parnas.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Instead, according to the Facebook CEO, he and the US president discussed “things that were on his mind, and, um, some of the topics that you’d read about in the news around, um, our work”. The intimate meeting in October was not publicly disclosed by the White House, and remained a mystery until weeks later, when a Facebook spokesperson confirmed to NBC News that the event had taken place. It came as Mr Zuckerberg faced widespread outrage that Facebook had decided to allow politicians to openly lie on their platform, despite fact-checking content from normal citizens. Mr Trump, whose campaign had sparked criticism after buying misleading adverts about Joe and Hunter Biden, was publicly urging Facebook not to ban political advertising, fuelling speculation that the matter must have been discussed during their private dinner." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

And now, the public has a little preview of what might be inside — and just how contentious this report might end up being. CNN reported Thursday night (and the Washington Post and New York Times later confirmed) that Inspector General Michael Horowitz has found that a former FBI lawyer might have altered a document tied to the 2016 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) application for former Trump campaign aide Carter Page. Critically, according to US officials who spoke to the Post, the Inspector General did not find that this possible alteration affected “the overall validity” or legal basis for the wiretap application. Without seeing the report — which finally has a due date of December 9 — it’s hard to gauge exactly how significant this alleged alteration is, but Horowitz has reportedly referred this evidence to John Durham, the prosecutor appointed by Attorney General William Barr to separately review the 2016 Russia investigation. Durham’s inquiry has since expanded to become a criminal probe. The New York Times also reported that, overall, Horowitz criticized the FBI’s handling of the application and renewals for Page, suggesting instances of sloppiness or negligence. But Horowitz is expected to debunk allegations of a broader conspiracy against President Donald Trump — teeing up a situation where people on both ends of the political spectrum can claim victory." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

As a candidate in Nevada’s 1st Congressional district, I would like to introduce myself to the people I want to serve. My name is Anthony Thomas Jr., and I was born and raised in southern New Jersey, but at 18, I moved to Las Vegas for better career opportunities. I had a dream of becoming a business owner, but I quickly learned how difficult it is to get by with working two minimum wage jobs at $8.75 per hour. The cost of rent, food, transportation and personal needs became impossible to cover without going into debt, and I understood that getting ahead was impossible with our current system and laws. Today, as a full-time armed security guard making $13 per hour, it's still an uphill battle trying to make ends meet. I knew that I wasn’t the only one struggling in Las Vegas and decided to do what I can to make a change. I'm running for Nevadas 1st Congressional District because I walk in the same shoes as majority of working class families in Nevada. Coming from southern New Jersey, trust me when I say that I truly understand how hard it is to provide and sustain a normal way of life. Today our politicians work hand-in-hand with major corporation owners, often neglecting the people like us who desperately need a voice and a champion to fight for our way of living. To start, I’d like to make a change with our minimum wage because paying workers more is the first step to ensuring a more stable life for everyone. I would like to propose a bill that will bring minimum wage at and above $15 per hour. This will guarantee maternity and paternity leave, disability for workers who get hurt on the job, and an overall easier way for parents to provide for their children. I want to make it clear that I refuse to take money from any corporation or political PAC of any kind. With a small $3 donation from many working class Nevadans, we can end systemic corruption and stop big business from having a major say in our policies and laws. I pledge to fight tooth and nail every day until the working class of our great state can finally reap the benefits that we sow. Anthony Thomas Jr." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Harris told aides of her intentions in an all-staff call. A person familiar with the call said she sounded distraught. While Harris had qualified for the December debate in her home state, she was running dangerously low on cash — lacking the resources to air TV ads in Iowa — and her staff was gripped by long-running internal turmoil. Still, the news came as a shock to some of her biggest supporters. Just as Harris was announcing the news internally, a super PAC had cleared more than $1 million in TV ads in Iowa to boost her struggling campaign. The ad, which argued she was the best-equipped candidate to take on Trump, was canceled. “Eleven months ago at the launch of our campaign in Oakland I told you all: ‘I am not perfect.' But I will always speak with decency and moral clarity and treat all people with dignity and respect. I will lead with integrity. I will speak the truth. And that’s what I have tried to do every day of this campaign. So here’s the truth today,” Harris wrote in a note to supporters. “I’ve taken stock and looked at this from every angle, and over the last few days have come to one of the hardest decisions of my life. My campaign for president simply doesn’t have the financial resources we need to continue .”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Bernie Sanders on Sunday knocked Michael Bloomberg's decision to enter the 2020 race for the Democratic presidential nomination, saying his new opponent is "not going to get very far in this election" and continuing his attacks on the former New York mayor's billionaire status. "We do not believe that billionaires have the right to buy elections, and that is why we are going to overturn Citizens United, that is why multi-billionaires like Mr. Bloomberg are not going to get very far in this election, that is why we are going to end voter suppression in America," Sanders said during a town hall in New Hampshire following Bloomberg's announcement. Earlier Sunday, Bloomberg officially announced his late-entry Democratic presidential bid, unveiling a campaign that the former New York mayor said will be squarely aimed at defeating President Donald Trump. The billionaire, who made his fortune creating technology that bankers and traders use to access market data, has already placed at least $37 million worth of television advertising over the next two weeks, according to data from Kantar Media/CMAG." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Let’s talk about why Republicans are wrong on this. Just like rich kids can attend public school, they should be able to attend tuition-free public college. Here’s why. 1. Universal public systems are designed to benefit EVERYBODY! Everyone contributes & everyone enjoys. We don’t ban the rich from public schools, firefighters, or libraries bc they are public goods. 2. Universal systems that benefit everyone are stronger bc everyone’s invested! 3. When you start carving people out & adding asterisks to who can benefit from goods that should be available to all, cracks in the system develop. 4. Many children of the elite want to go to private, Ivyesque schools anyway, which aren’t covered by tuition-free public college! 5. Lastly, and I can’t believe we have to remind people of this, but it’s GOOD to have classrooms (from pre-k through college!) to be socioeconomically integrated. Having students from different incomes & backgrounds in the same classroom is good for society & economic mobility." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

In the two-minute video, Olivia Jade, 20, welcomed her 1.93 million YouTube subscribers back to her channel, acknowledging that she had "been gone for a really long time.” The lifestyle vlogger mentioned that she debated for "seven or eight months" whether she should come back to the platform as she is "legally not allowed to speak on anything going on right now.” "There's no point in me just talking for 10 minutes to the camera about how I wish I can say something when I really can't, so I'm going to leave it at that," said Olivia Jade in the video, adding that she wants to move on with her life and "take smaller steps in the right direction.”" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

But recently, I did just that when I sat down with Lisa Page the week before Thanksgiving in my hotel room in Washington, D.C. Page, of course, is the former FBI lawyer whose text-message exchanges with agent Peter Strzok that belittled Donald Trump and expressed fear at his possible victory became international news. They were hijacked by Trump to fuel his “deep state” conspiracy. For the nearly two years since her name first made the papers, she’s been publicly silent (she did have a closed-door interview with House members in July 2018). I asked her why she was willing to talk now. “Honestly, his demeaning fake orgasm was really the straw that broke the camel’s back,” she says. The president called out her name as he acted out an orgasm in front of thousands of people at a Minneapolis rally on Oct. 11. That was the moment Page decided she had to speak up. “I had stayed quiet for years hoping it would fade away, but instead it got worse,” she says. “It had been so hard not to defend myself, to let people who hate me control the narrative. I decided to take my power back.” She is also about to be back in the news cycle in a big way. On Dec. 9, the Justice Department inspector general report into Trump’s charges that the FBI spied on his 2016 campaign will come out. Leaked press accounts indicate the report will exonerate Page of the allegation that she acted unprofessionally or showed bias against Trump." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Her parents came to the country from Bangladesh and worked hard — her father as a file clerk for the IRS and her mother flipping burgers and toiling at a warehouse until she literally broke her back — so their children didn't face the political and economic hardships they left behind. And like many of her first- and second-generation American neighbors, Islam is struggling to make ends meet: At 29, she has put the remaining $27,849.63 on her student loans into forbearance and just decided to cancel a health insurance plan she described as "bogus." What makes her stand out from most of the other residents of Georgia's hypercompetitive 7th Congressional District is that she's running to represent them in the House. And, with Democrats from all over the country landing in Atlanta this week for Wednesday's presidential debate, she should get a chance to connect with a wider group of potential donors and validators." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Biden has sought to portray many of these criticisms as naïve and dismissive of the realities of serving as a U.S. senator in the company of segregationists. In a recent interview with NPR, the son of Delaware cast similar aspersions on critics of his foreign policy record, apparently ignoring his own public comments in the wake of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. He told the public radio network he thought his "record has been good" on foreign policy, defending his decision in 2002 to vote for the use of military force in Iraq, part of then-President George W. Bush's war on terror. Biden qualified his commitment to the invasion upon an assurance from Bush at the time that U.S. troops would not be engaged in a protracted conflict. "[Bush] looked me in the eye in the Oval Office. He said he needed the vote to be able to get inspectors into Iraq to determine whether or not Saddam Hussein was engaged in dealing with a nuclear program," Biden explained. "He got them in and before you know it, we had 'shock and awe.'"" #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

The withdrawal will be complete this time next year, after a one-year waiting period has elapsed. "We will continue to work with our global partners to enhance resilience to the impacts of climate change and prepare for and respond to natural disasters," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement Monday. Nearly 200 countries signed on to the agreement in 2015 and made national pledges to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Each country set its own goals, and many wealthy countries, including the U.S., also agreed to help poorer countries pay for the costs associated with climate change. The U.S. is now the only country to pull out of the pact. "The United States is not cooperating with the rest of the world on dealing with climate change," says Andrew Light, a former climate official in the State Department who helped develop the Paris Agreement." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks

Researchers polled 3,000 Americans and found that while the majority would not support such a strike, nearly 1 in 3 would. “For many of these hawks, support for an attack, even in a preventive war, does not significantly decrease when the story says that the United States would use nuclear weapons that are expected to kill 1 million North Korean civilians,” researchers wrote. Researchers presented respondents with a fictional news item about a long-range missile test and gave them a choice of “preferred” U.S. military responses and probabilities the attack would prevent North Korea from retaliating." #TheDamageReport #JohnIadarola #TheYoungTurks
