The Young Turks: July 25, 2014

An elderly homeowner shot and killed a 28 year old pregnant woman that he caught burglarizing his home.  After she begged him not to shoot her due to her pregnancy, he ignored and shot her in the back.  Ravens running back Ray Rice has been suspended 2 games by the NFL for his offseason altercation with his then-fiancĂ© where he knocked her out cold.  Talk about the lenient punishment in contrast to Josh Gordon’s marijuana charges that led to a year long suspension follows.  Steven A. Smith spoke on ESPN about how women need to try to learn how to prevent provoking men like Rice into hitting them, so that they won’t have to put up with the bad guy that hits women.  He continued to defend himself on Twitter. Conservatives are losing their minds over the 1st trailer of 50 Shades of Grey, urging women to avoid it, citing sexual violence.  A woman wrote about how her 3, and 4 year old sons have been suspended 8 times from preschool.  Although her kids were acting up, she discovered that black kids receive many more suspensions than their white counterparts.  A separate study among white women showed that the startling majority believed black kids were older and therefore more culpable for their behavior than white kids. Personal troubles and suspensions while growing up are discussed. Cenk, Ana, John Iadarola, and Wes Clark Jr hosting.  Former leader of Iran Ayatollah Khomeini is advocating that Palestine continues to fight Israel’s “child-killing regime.”  Talk about the nuances of the situation and how general public opinion doesn’t really match up with the reality ensue followed by a discussion of a potential end to the seemingly endless fighting.  FoxNews continues to show propaganda in support of everything Israel does by equating each side’s firepower and effectiveness.  Videos of Sean Hannity badgering a Palestinian guest on his Fox show about whether or not Hamas is a terrorist group are shown.  Cenk talks about how easy it would be to dismantle Sean Hannity’s empty arguments and how he’d never come on TYT to get his ass kicked. The Obama Admin has announced that they are taking talks of impeachment seriously, despite many people’s response to laugh it off.  They are realizing that the possibility of Obama furthering immigration policy through executive order may push it.  Cenk points out that this is a political trick by the WH to goad the GOP into impeachment proceedings, or get the public to think they will, and paint them as crazies.
