Los Angeles – February 13, 2019– TYT, the Home of Progressives, announced today that The Young Turks will extend its two hour daily live news show to three hours, adding two additional segments to the program. The reformat will officially debut on February 14th, the same day as TYT’s 17th anniversary.

Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian continue to host the first two hours of The Young Turks, covering news and politics. The third hour will start with a new 30 minute segment, ‘The Conversation’, featuring interviews, debates, and panel discussions. It will be followed by a more lighthearted segment, ‘Post Game’, exclusive to paying subscribers where hosts continue to cover the news with anecdotes on how it impacts their personal lives.

Senator Bernie Sanders and Vice director and Oscar winning writer, Adam McKay, will be the inaugural guests on The Young Turks’ new segment ‘The Conversation.’ This will mark the first time interviews will air directly under The Young Turks programming umbrella.

Expanding The Young Turks line-up with a new segment, ‘The Conversation’, aims to attract a broad spectrum of guests including: politicians from the left and right, media personalities, and influencers. The new segment kicks off The Young Turks coverage gearing up for the 2020 election cycle. With a wider group of guests outside progressives, ‘The Conversation,’ is expected to become more confrontational.

Host and founder of The Young Turks Cenk Uygur said, “I'm excited about this change because I want The Young Turks to be the epicenter for progressive news and politics. I'm looking forward to having most of the presidential candidates and top newsmakers come and meet our audience every day.”

With ‘The Conversation,’ The Young Turks positions itself as a necessary campaign stop. As Amanda Whiting of the Washingtonian described, “Uygur’s network isn’t just another channel on the dial. It’s more. It’s a gathering place, and it’s a voting bloc.” Margaret Sullivan of The Washington Post also noted The Young Turks’ early discovery of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, “The Young Turks, the politics-oriented web network that calls itself “home of progressives,” had seen her success coming for many months — and worked to promote it.”

‘The Conversation’ will take the place of Rebel HQ which debuted in December 2017 and focused on the grassroots progressive movement and candidates. RHQ’s progressive guests included up and comers Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib, as well as the likes of Elizabeth Warren, Beto O’Rourke, Ro Khanna, and Pramila Jayapal.
